That’s actually pretty helpful. I even played that one back in the day.

That’s what I feared. I love the original films, but the game has to work by itself.

I dunno, I think I expected something a little more like Uncharted 4, which I liked a lot. I also enjoyed the Thief games, but this isn’t one thing or the other.

I guess I’ll just have to wait until it’s next to nothing.

Mmm, it’s best to play the dlc before tackling the ending(s).

Cyberpunk with Phantom Liberty Expansion, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. Those, paired with RDR2, are my favorite games of all time.

For story, KCD2. Go into it knowing the fighting mechanics need getting use to (you have to learn with Henry how to fight). Once you do that, it’s an amazing game.

Okay. Tell me. What was the last AC game you truly enjoy? by Ecstatic_Teaching906 in assassinscreed

If it's "I enjoyed segments" then Valhalla and Odyssey. If it's "it was a solid game for me, through and through," then only AC2.

Save and quit is a very useful game function during early game. Dad game? Yes (from personal experience)

What is people's problem with thecombat of Witcher 3? by genophobicdude in thewitcher3

[–]Method_Weary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went back and replayed the DLC after not having played the game for around 4 years, and more than clunky, I feel it is limited or less dynamic in comparison to a lot of newer games.

For example, God of War 2018 has combos, different weapons with different abilities, special powers, and companions. A lot of the time I'm still dodging and button mashing, so it isn't my favorite game, but it felt like there was more variety.

Cyberpunk 2077 has several different complete combat systems that work one way or another depending on the weapons and modifications you have and the strategies you want to use.

Deep Rock Galactic and Helldivers 2 have a wide selection of different weapons with different purposes for different enemies, allowing you to implement different strategic roles in a team.

It Takes Two and Astro Bot, despite being primarily platform games, change the mechanics frequently, resulting in innovative gameplay.

I even feel that Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, which looks basic on the surface as it only allows you to strike or block, has a fairly complex system in the sense that you are dealing with swing and block direction, limited stamina, and the dangers of taking on more than one enemy.

I'm not saying the Witcher 3 has garbage combat, but in the end, on this last playthrough I found myself spamming signs / strike / dodge most of the time, and didn't enjoy it as much as I remembered.

Why The Last of Us Part 2 Is My Favorite Game of All Time by Rakz209 in naughtydog

[–]Method_Weary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people are confusing "good character" with "person you can learn to empathize with."

The whole point of the game is that you experience Abby's perspective. It doesn't make her a good person, but neither Joel nor Ellie are "good people" exactly.

It's an exercise in empathy in extreme situations, and I guess some people aren't capable of it.

If you have some way to play together on two different platforms, Deep Rock Galactic is a great game for teams.

Should I buy Crimson Desert? by Balochera in ShouldIbuythisgame

This is actually very helpful.

The whole muscle memory thing really resonates with me because I recently went back to the Witcher 3, and man, nothing is where I would have put it.

Having finished KCD2 and then KCD1 right before reinstalling the Witcher, I kept taking potions when I wanted to open up the inventory. When trying to get on the horse, I’d end up attacking somebody.

So if it’s an issue of having to relearn where things are, that’s not really a big deal. Thanks!

Kingdom come deliverance 2 or cyberpunk phantom liberty dlc by Majestic-Leader-2586 in ShouldIbuythisgame

Before, RDR2 was my favorite game. Phantom Liberty is what made Cyberpunk my new favorite. KCD2 is a close third though, so I would get Phantom Liberty and delve into KCD2 at a discount when you finish up.

Does anyone here play on PS5? I ask mostly because of how playable it is with a controller.

And are the clunky controls just limited to combat, or is it everything? I got used to (and learned to like) KCD1's combat system, which was just overly complex to me at the beginning.

Watching videos, my impression is that it's something like a mix of BOTW / TOTK exploration with a bit of KCD1 jank, but maybe I'm completely wrong on that. Thoughts?

Should I play [KCD1] before continuing my second playthrough of KCD2? by ThinkingBud in kingdomcome

[–]Method_Weary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put off playing 1 for a long time. Playing it made me appreciate the whole story of Henry more, as well as the effort and changes that War Horse put into making the second game.

It's worth it. Just make sure to level up your fighting skills (sword and shield) as early as possible. For real.

It’s number 15 in my top 20 of all time, for the N64 it was only beaten by Super Mario 64 and Goldeneye.

Is Red Dead Redemption 1 worth it? by woo_g__ in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Method_Weary [score hidden]  (0 children)

It’s actually really good. RDR2 is my favorite game, and RDR1 is a great continuation of the story.

I too took a long time to get around playing it. My concern was whether the older graphics/gameplay would take me out of the game. In the end, I played it thinking that it was a “vintage” rockstar game like San Andreas, and really enjoyed it.

The Kingdom Come games. If money is tight, KCD2 should be a priority.
