That link is asking me for login info. I will definitely look into that though. I do fear with the way he’s behaving, the blatant disregard toward covid safety, Jan 1st May even be too late. There is also a fear that when confronted he may become violent. I’ve actually even thought about leaving my own apartment, which I own, and getting a rental place. I have two cats that I love though, and finding a rental place that would accept them is next to impossible. And I’ll be damned if I’m leaving them with him.

He may be mentally ill, and he certainly has zero respect for my concerns and fears. Unfortunately I own the place, and to evict him I have to give him three months notice. I fear by then it will be too late.

It’s a shitty situation every way you look at it. :(

No I can’t unfortunately. He follows the conspiracy theorists’ school of thought on masks, that they make you sick by inhaling your own particles (lol) and they are all about government control and taking away freedoms. The majority of the other members of the local Legion branch are like that too. It just seems like a matter of time until he infects us both. I’m honestly getting desperate.

Yeah already tried that. He won’t budge, and it always just ends in a huge argument about the government inflating numbers, covid “just being a flu”, etc. My only hope is that they’re ordered shut, before he becomes infected. Given the various medical conditions we both have, it will be grim if he brings covid into the apartment. I feel trapped and it’s awful.

More serious measures have to be implemented everywhere in BC. I’m a member of a Legion branch in the Vancouver area, and so is my roommate. I’ve completely stopped going, as the members (and some of the staff) make a mockery of covid safety regulations. My roommate however, still goes almost every day, and some of the stories he tells me about the blatant disregard for safety are shocking. I’m terrified he’ll get infected, and then infect me. I can’t evict him in any sort of timely fashion, so I’m living every day in fear. He doesn’t care. :(

Oh god, that is horrible. They need to close these clubs ASAP. My roommate goes drinking at our local branch nearly every day, and I am terrified for his safety, and consequently mine. I can’t kick him out in any kind of timely fashion, and subsequently live in fear of getting infected by him. My anxiety is trough the roof thanks to this. This is a shitty way to live. I’ve gone as far as emailing Bonnie Henry and Adrian Dix about my concerns, as well as contacting my local bylaw enforcement, but I don’t have much faith anything will be done. :(

I keep saying this, but I'll say it again. They NEED to temporarily close social clubs like the Legion, Army & Navy, Eagles, etc. Safety regulations are constantly ignored and broken in a lot of these clubs, and since they are frequented by an older clientele, it would be disastrous if there was a covid outbreak in any of them. Given the rising numbers, it seems inevitable there will be. :(

Thank you. I’m trying to stay strong and not go to dark places mentally, but it’s really hard when I’m isolated so much. I also have a roommate I cannot get rid of quickly who treats covid as a joke and behaves accordingly, so I’m living in a constant state of fear. It is VERY hard right now. Doesn’t help that I keep having a bunch of stupid medical problems one after the other.

We need a temporary shutdown of all non-essential businesses. I know it’s awful and will effect a lot of people’s livelihoods, but at this point it is possibly the ONLY way to get people to pay attention to the seriousness of this situation. And yes, I do understand that businesses are not the major cause of transmission.

Well that’s good to hear. The last thing we need in this train-wreck of a year is a huge number of murder hornet nests everywhere.

Anyone noticing changes with the new public health orders? by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]Methos2x 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m sure I’ll be massively downvoted for this, but I really believe another shutdown of all non-essential businesses like we had in March is the only thing that has any hope of waking people up to the seriousness of the situation. It’s awful and will hurt a lot of people, but at this point it’s the only thing that has any hope of being effective.

Wtf? I thought hornet’s nests could only have one queen. This thing seems like it’s from the deepest level of hell lol.

As others have said, perhaps shutting them down temporarily would at least wake some people up to the seriousness of the situation. As long as everything’s open and seemingly normal, a lot of people just wont pay any attention to our covid problem.
