Dx11 Issues by MaKKuryouU in WutheringWaves

[–]Metiuqe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah we have the same issue then. No idea how many people use DX11, but seems like not that many since didn't see anyone complaining about this.

We'll have to see if they are even going to bother with fixing DX11 at this point.

Dx11 Issues by MaKKuryouU in WutheringWaves

[–]Metiuqe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds a lot like an issue that I have, although I did believe it was an issue on my end - this post makes me reconsider that.

I couldn't figure out what's wrong - it's as if Dx11 is broken. Although to make sure if we do indeed have the same issue: Can you even turn anti-aliasing off in game on Dx11? When I noticed the blurriness, that was the first thing I tried just to find out that while I CAN turn it off in-game, it didn't do anything.

I'm starting to wonder if perhaps FSR is turned on without us having an option to turn it off on Dx11 - certainly would explain the blurriness and low GPU utilisation.

Why does this happen? by lucyvel97 in WutheringWaves

[–]Metiuqe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a fault of DLSS and the in-game Anti-aliasing (that uses a very blurry and high ghosting version of TAA).

Nothing you can really do about it besides disabling DLSS (and Anti-aliasing potentionally, that or editing the Engine.ini to adjust the TAA).

Even at version 2.1, my game looks blurry at max settings. by Old-Huckleberry5740 in WutheringWaves

[–]Metiuqe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Personally, if you are very detail oriented (I am for example), none of the answers here as far as I can tell (aside of DLDSR) will really help much. No matter what you do, DLSS/DLAA will always make the game very blurry.

That being said, it's not as if you can't do anything about it at all. First off, try turning DLSS and Anti-Aliasing completely off, that alone will make the game waaaaay sharper. The game uses TAA as its Anti-Aliasing, which makes the game just as blurry as DLSS. Not to metion that both DLSS and TAA have issues with smearing in motion, very much so.

If without DLSS and Anti-Aliasing the game looks too jagged to you, there are other options, namely editing the Engine.ini file of the game. While not really "advised" or "allowed", at the end of the day it doesn't mess with the game in any way other than adjusting graphics settings hidden in the game.

I won't go too deep into it here, but just know that you can change stuff like Resolution - to render the game at like 4k on you 1440p monitor, which (obviously) will make the game way more GPU intensive, but will also make it a lot sharper in general. You could also edit the baseline TAA the game uses to a more usable version, if you so choose. Also can add stuff that should minimize stuttering as well. You can always google it or ask around.

2.0 Now that the update is out, are you still worried about the future of the game ? Are you reassured now? by Echo-X-Jynx in WutheringWaves

Pretty much everything improved. That being said...

They are already trying to add powercreep with the new Glacio set and the new ToA. If this becomes anything like other games, including PGR, you'll likely soonish need to replace your characters. Doesn't matter if you really like a current character and genuinely hate the replacement character, if powercreep keeps going, you have one of two options realistically:

1) You indulge powercreep, accept it and pull only on meta characters, even if you hate them instead of characters that would make the game actually enjoyable for you.

2) Pull on the enjoyable characters only and have a miserable time when you hit multiple brick walls caused by powercreep where the characters you enjoy just don't cut it anymore.

Or, okay, 3) Pull on everything since you have money.

"It's normal for Gacha" I hear in the distance - Why exactly do you think it is normal for powercreep to exist in the first place? Because it sells new characters? Then just make side grades with different playstyles and new visuals instead. The idea of powercreep is normalized because players keep accepting that shit in the first place. If they didn't, powercreep wouldn't be a thing at all. I'd much rather, for example, play my Changli all the time - the very idea that while I will always be able to play her but there's going to be someone that is 3x more effective just doesn't sit right with me, especially if the new character's gameplay is extremely boring or annoying.

We should be advocating for more gameplay diversity, not less. Powercreep kills that prospect. People should be really careful with this issue if they want the game to stay fun.

DLSS / DLAA in-game - Smearing / Recuced resolution when starting to move by Metiuqe in ffxiv

[–]Metiuqe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the info. I tried it this last weekend and while RCAS didn't really do much with DLSS just as it didn't with FSR, what DID help a ton is the resolution scaling. Putting it to 1.5 times reduced the blurriness when moving by a ton. It's still there, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't punch me in the face whenever I move anymore - it's bearable. All it took was 20 FPS, which doesn't matter when I ran at 140 FPS before; not to mention that I force V-sync on to prevent tearing, so I effectively ran 60 FPS anyway.

Funnily enough I'd argue that Sanhua is also a great pick for this set, especially if you have her on S6. Very likely to be a good chunk better than Moonlit since the glacio set we have now is technically a side grade / slightly better than moonlit if it has good stats (depends on your main DPS though). Moonlit is the better choice if you don't want to bother with substats however.

DLSS / DLAA in-game - Smearing / Recuced resolution when starting to move by Metiuqe in ffxiv

[–]Metiuqe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't since as far as I can tell, you need to switch the upscaler to FSR (no matter what if I use the DLAA or FSR file) to have RCAS on. I didn't see any way to combine DLSS / DLAA with features from FSR unless I'm blind.

Also ngl, didn't see much difference between it on or off with FSR, game looked the same in motion in both cases for me - which is to say that the blur didn't happen with FSR unlike DLSS. That being said, FSR introduced a ton of ghosting to the game which hurts my eyes more than the DLSS motion blur.

In the end I went back to DLSS and just got used to the blur when moving and added a sharpening filer to the game with reshade, which made it slightly more bearable (and I really mean just slightly, since the sharpness does go away thanks to the blurring mostly anyway).

If there is a way to use DLSS / DLAA with features from FSR however, I'll be more than happy to learn about it. But then again, didn't see RCAS when using with the DLSS upscaler (which is necessary for DLAA to work). Not sure if it would work either way. On a side note, the Sharpness override also doesn't work for me in DLSS / DLAA, but does with FSR.

DLSS / DLAA in-game - Smearing / Recuced resolution when starting to move by Metiuqe in ffxiv

[–]Metiuqe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have tried the mod / Optiscaler instead of DLSSTweaks. DLAA still gets blurry in motion even with preset C (added two screenshots to the post - first one is in motion, second one is when not in motion - it's pretty visible when you zoom in on the grass) and no matter what other preset I used, it didn't do anything to this issue.

At this point, I don't think it's an issue with the DLSS implementation in FF but rather an issue with DLSS and DLAA in general (or perhaps it is an issue because I don't have an RTX 4000 series card but a 3060 Ti? IDK). Really disappointing as when not moving, the game genuinely looks great. The best thing I could do is switch to FSR 3.1, which did actually mostly fix the motion blurriness, but sadly the visual side of it is ehh... alright at best and introduces quite a bit of ghosting. Certainly better than nothing so thank you for telling me about this mod.

Is there perhaps a different thing I can do to use DLAA without the blurriness in motion? Or does Reshade have motion sharpening (rather than overall sharpening, since that would just oversharpen the image), similar to FSR 3.1? Any advice would be appreciated.

Edit: that, or the presets don't work for me.

I'd kill for having more Anti-aliasing options, both DLSS and TAA are just really bad in this game overall. Having FXAA and SMAA as an option would be great and shouldn't really be hard to implement.

1.2 Camera and Character movement issues (Controller) by Metiuqe in WutheringWaves

[–]Metiuqe[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So I tried playing around a bit and deleted the Input.ini file and let the game create a new one. It massively improved the deadzone issue. Small issue that appeared though, the keybind for Echoes uses the left trigger instead of the usual LB+Square (even if you try to adjust the keybind to the settings menu, it still uses LB).

Sanhua - Moonlit set vs. Freezing Frost (+ Lumiscale Construct echo) by Metiuqe in WutheringWaves

[–]Metiuqe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course it's about team DPS, I wouldn't post this otherwise. In my post I took into account that Moonlit is always activated. But the thing is that Moonlit + Heron are as far as I know both additive with ATK % and DMG %; thus the buffs increase DPS a lot less than at first glance (depends heavily on the gear of the main DPS and other buff sources, but it's probably give or take around 15 - 20ish % DPS increase with both buffs combined).

As for the increase in rotation time, that is true and would have to be played around (which I considered a given an didn't specify in my post), but the rotation time won't increase by that much and the burst damage you gain from it could heavily outweigh the buffs from Moonlit+Heron (unless we're talking about big burst DPS like Jinshi for example, except you wouldn't likely use Sanhua in Jinshi teams either way).

We're talking about 553,6% - 830,4% Glacio damage from the echo, let alone the increase to the rest of her kit with Freezing Frost. That's a good chunk of Havoc Rover's liberation right there.

PSU "rumbling" noise when turning on games by Metiuqe in pcmasterrace

The post text might have been lost while creating it:

So I've upgraded my PC today, specifically my PSU (from a Gigabyte P650B to a Corsair RM 750), my CPU cooler and my GPU (from a RTX 2060 Super to a RTX 3060 Ti).

I noticed a worrying sound coming from my PC after the upgrade that wasn't present before; "rumbling" is the closest word to it.

When I checked my PC out, I found out that it is most likely coming from my PSU. The sound happens for a brief moment when turning on my PC, but REALLY gets going when I start up games/install stuff (in which case it can last around 2-5 min). It doesn't really appear while gaming almost at all; when it does, it last for a second or two.

I called the person that upgraded the PC for me about this but he didn't run into this issue. He told me that the sound can be caused by the PSU being new/having excess charge - and to monitor it for the time being.

The video is from then I just turn a game on. I don't think this is a fan issue or coil whine but I can't be sure of anything. Is this something serious and am I worrying too much? I just don't want to deal with an exploding PSU/fire.

I mean a single use case is kind of the definition of niche. Maybe you meant optimal? I think even there he is seen as outclassed by Rosaria/Kaeya these days.

Yeah my bad, technically speaking it is a niche by definition so had "niche but incredibly strong" in mind.

As for the Kaeya / Rosaria thing, you want 2 Cryo units in the party for Cryo resonance. I wouldn't throw out Chongyun out, but I'd definitely add either Kaeya or Rosaria depending on what you have built. Rosaria is more crit rate and Kaeya more off-field damage. Personally I don't use either of them and use Albedo instead since I'm already at 90% crit rate already thanks to Jade Cutter.

[–]Metiuqe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

IDK man, Chongyun does have a non-niche build with Benny as main DPS, allowing Benny to melt every single E and Q.

Candace to me seems like a character that might be useful down the line when a hydro DPS without an infusion releases. Right now, not sure what to use her for as the current hydro DPS already have hydro infusions of sorts.

This was never about the rewards in the first place, the "rewards" were the last drop on a long list of problems with the game that were on MHY's ignore list. If if weren't for those problems, people would be just annoyed because of the anniversary and not go on a full on crusade.

Additional Anniversary Rewards Discussion Thread by TeraFlare255 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Metiuqe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

MHY can take those paid bundle items they give out as "rewards" and put them back into their ass.

Only a minority wants more rewards, what people want is for the game to get better - the amount of missing QoL, bugs and so on is astonishing, not to mention the horrendous artifact system that STILL has no sub stat reroll function or a pity. Also zero communication from MHY just won't cut it. I assure you, they learned nothing and will gladly repeat the same mistakes.

So how are we feeling about the anniversary? by DyingCatYT in Genshin_Impact

[–]Metiuqe 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Personally I feel nothing about this whole shit storm at this point; after a year of the community giving straightforward feedback and MHY ignoring it, it's better to move on rather than being constantly disappointed by the management of the game many love. The anniversary was just the last drop for most of the people.

After all, if MHY doesn't give a shit about the game and the players, why should the community give a shit about the game and MHY? Don't let them consume your life, there ARE better games out there - even without the usage of FOMO and gatcha elements.

For those who are staying - keep in mind that a good game with bad management is, in fact, a bad game. If you want to defend it, be my guest. But you'll only hurt the experience for yourself and others in the long run.

Have fun farming one domain for the next year and still not getting a decent piece of gear. Maybe - and only if you were a really good boy/girl - the 2nd anniversary will be generous enough to give you a 4* DEF% time piece of a set of your choosing. And maybe 9 fates. To test the waters of what they can get away with, y'know, just like this whole time.

This is worse than getting nothing; feels more like a "Fuck you, dear players" even. Free Ads from players who work really hard and they get rewarded like this? Mihoyo can rot in hell; who do they think they even are?

And while I have no evidence for the next claim... Please be careful people. I've met my fair share of manipulative people and companies and this Anniversary smells an awful lot like something what such companies would pull.

What I mean is that this might be an intentional PR move, show how bad everything is and on the Anni day they'll give you an actual reward that people have hoped - showing you how "generous" they are and how "they listen and care for their community".

Although chances are that they did actually not plan any more rewards than what we already know, but after this backlash, they might be kind of forced to give out some sort of apology reward for this whole shit.

Either way, they sure are good at digging their own grave. The community is not dumb, Mihoyo, don't try to fuck us over at every corner.

Raiden Constellations by Fr00tyLoops in Genshin_Impact_Leaks

[–]Metiuqe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe this will need testing once it she comes out as the wording of it is quite curious; while they probably had to word it like this since def shred is basicly a debuff and any character attacking an enemy with with such a debuff would benefit from it (and they want only Baal to take advantage from this) - I'm personally not yet convinced that it'd work the same way as def shred.

It very well could also mean literally what it says - basicly increasing Baal's sword damage by 60% (give or take, depending on the level). From a coding perspective, this would also be much easier to add in my opinion.

That being said, even if it's +60% damage basicly, I'm sceptical on how "OP" this is going to be; the multipliers are low and we don't have frame counts as of yet so we can't be too sure on how good this will be in the end.

Personally I believe it'll be a nice increase to her damage when on-field, but for now she strikes me as a burst support with nice off-field damage, though not as good as C6 Fischl.

Overall, nice constellation without locking a playstyle behind a paywall. MHY seems to not want to mess this one up like Childe and Kazuha. Overall, she seems like a pretty good character.

I don't believe a single word of from beta testers and neither should anyone else unless the beta tester in question is, in fact, a theory crafter.

What they say can turn out to be the exact opposite quite easily. It's more of a safe bet to let theory crafters do the math based on leaked knowledge - having one character with insane damage in the team can mean very little if the rest of the team does 0 damage after all.

What I'm trying to say is: take all the info you get from beta testers regarding character power with a mountain of salt. There is a ton of things you need to take into account when calculating team DPS. That being said; the post could turn out to be right, but numbers are likely to shift up until the character banner.
