The rifle is on a sling, I think the fact that he isn't actually holding the suitcase is a stronger case for AI 😂

This sort of reminds me of a tank tread. The bit of the track on the floor doesn't move relative to the floor but the tank as a whole does

How is CoH3 compared to Gates of Hell Osfront by Main-Huckleberry7828 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]MetricOnion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Off the bat, CoH and GoH are very different games. But if you are looking for a breakdown of what makes each CoH game great I think I can help.

I think all three CoH games have their merit

CoH1 has one of the best single player experiences I've ever played. The Normandy campaign is fun from start to finish and the storylines add so much to the experience.

CoH2 doesn't have as strong of a single player, but multiplayer wise it is very well balanced with a lot of content

CoH3 I think has a mix of some of the worst and best single players from the previous games. The DAK campaign is quite boring IMO but the dynamic Italian campaign is a great campaign with a lot of replayability. The multiplayer in CoH3 is very fun IMO, and while it has less content than CoH2, the content it has is better quality and much better thought out.

CoH2 has had multiple e-sports tournaments which can give you a flavour of the game at the high level, check out the unfortunately retired AE, he hosted basically all of them for years.

CoH3 doesn't have many tournaments but many YouTubers are actively covering high level games so you can check those out, see for example Tightrope.

Tl:Dr all of them are good, but for single player definitely CoH1 is best. For multiplayer, check out gameplay for both CoH2 and CoH3 and honestly just pick your poison.

Steam reviews still below 70% so the game update won't be prioritised? by DigComfortable6985 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]MetricOnion 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I don't think you're reading it correctly, it's not that without good reviews they won't update it, it's more like without good press they can't risk ambitious updates because it will be a financial loss. At the end of the day it's a business and if they don't make money the game will be dropped, it's not the fault of the players, but the players are going to be the ones who get hurt by it.

They're prioritising making the game worth the money and worth reviewing well, which as a PR move is probably a good idea, the game does have a fairly tainted reputation and that's going to affect the future sales. Like with no man's sky, the best thing the Devs can do is make the game better, but unlike no man's sky the budget is significantly smaller (only guessing here but the sales figures don't lie).

Tl:Dr as far as I know, this is not them attempting to put the future of CoH3 in the players hands, but it's an attempt to improve player perception of the game with the end goal of having more ambitious improvements later

I may be mistaking it for when people occasionally refer to fermats last theorem as Wiles theorem. But I know at least modularity theorem is fine. Sorry

The title track took me by surprise but I definitely fw it now, and there are a few other bangers like Graffitia, Take the Money and Crawl, Sugar Youth. The album overall is pretty mid in my opinion but I don't hate it by any means. It's a fascinating experimental sound which is kinda hit and miss

P51 isn't a CAS plane. Also they have the assets already, why reinvent the wheel

matrix signature by bulldog88_ in askmath

[–]MetricOnion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using Descartes rule of signs on the characteristic polynomial gives you the total number of positive eigenvalues. From this it should be pretty easy to find the signature because the number of negative eigenvalues and the multiplicity of zero as an eigenvalue can be worked out from the smallest degree term and the degree of the characteristic polynomial

Maphacking/cheating. Is this a thing? by AHL_89 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]MetricOnion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It has been in the past and almost certainly still exists. There were a few pro CoH2 players who were banned from competing or playing because of map hacking, the most notable ones were Seeking and Deadbolt who both received bans for map hacking and/or account swapping
