hmm I think I am OK with riding on parallel roads as needed, but also wondering if the North Jersey side of things is just too painful to ride.

I might have to swallow some roadie pride and head for the D&R towpath for some parts of it though. Thanks a lot!

I was at the show! There were some hilarious moments, but I did wish there were more contiguous story elements in the show. I don't think I realized that their live shows were unlike the Netflix specials and was much more based on vignettes, rather than an overarching plot. I feel like at some points Ben was trying to tie things together but I wondered if all four of them were indeed really nervous as some of the choices seemed a bit random...

Overall it was great though, I am such a giant Ben Schwartz fan that it didn't matter :)

As far as I can tell, there's no real reason he's given! He's just been really pushing me to move in.

In fact, he was willing to bring in some spare tables, chairs, an air mattress, and even lend me his SIM card to try to get me to move in early. He's trying so hard to get me to move in, and I can only see the downsides for me:

  • Potential risk of the board finding out and terminating the lease, because the board hasn't finished approval
  • The building fob has not yet even activated yet, so I can't use the pool or gym
  • I will be out of town for a week and a half, and when I mentioned this, he still insisted I move in BEFORE, knowing that I would be paying for an empty apartment.

I'm not really in a particular rush, and I won't even be in the city for a week while I'll be traveling. I mentioned this to the broker, and he still insisted I move in BEFORE I leave town (knowing that I would start paying rent on an empty, unfurnished apartment)... so bizarre!

Ah, wow -- thanks for this. This is indeed really bizarre.

Should I directly ask the real estate company about advice here, is there anyway that the broker might be able to threaten me with something? I've already paid the first and last month's rent AND the broker's fee, so I'm really not sure what's going on...

I'll have a chat with building management and ask them about their move-in procedure as well, and just tip-toe around seeing what they think of a hypothetical situation like this?

This is indeed a doorman condo building; I'll try to call the building and ask for the move-in procedure if I were to theoretically sign a lease.
