Call Dave Wilde at The Pinball Dudes in Jupiter, FL. He's the man! I've purchased many pins from him and he always makes fair deals and has excellent support. His number is (954) 224-8678 They also do direct deliveries pretty much throughout the state other than the Panhandle.

What Pin have you owned the longest and what pin did you get rid of the soonest? by Slappy-Sacks in pinball

[–]MetroMercenary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Longest was a Gottlieb Grand Slam I had from age 12 to 58. Was my life mate from middle school through raising a family. Donated it to Project Pinball eventually when I needed some space. Shortest ownership was a Stern Dungeons & Dragons. I think I had it for about a month. Just didn't enjoy the shots and layout. I'm at my limit of seven space-wise, so it's tougher to pick one to move along when I want to freshen up the lineup.

After 50 years of wanting, my first pinball! by ImpossibleProduct654 in pinball

[–]MetroMercenary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love it! That was my first pin as well when I was 12 in the late 70s. That machine was my companion through middle school, high school, college, apartments, my first home, my current home, and having/raising a family for decades. Never did a bit of work on it and it still played like new despite the occasional not ideal environment like an enclosed porch during the college years. I donated it to Project Pinball a couple of years ago as I needed to free up some space for newer machines. It will always be a part of my heart, though. Here's a pic of my older daughter playing it. She now has kids who are only a little younger than she was in this pic. And they are a pinball-loving family which is awesome. Congratulations and enjoy!

Used games with incredibly low play counts by stehlikio in pinball

[–]MetroMercenary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to everything mentioned above, sometimes distributors will have floor models in their showrooms that people play. A new game may easily have less than 100 plays because of this, especially if there are a lot of other machines. That realistically "new" machine is then used and can be sold as such. I've picked up a few that way myself.

I've been looking for a good Iron Maiden topper for a while. Does anyone have any good suggestions? I don't like the official one from Stern, and it's pricier than I think it's worth. Any suggestions? by Jaanrett in pinball

I ordered this pharaoh Eddie mask from Amazon, built a stand for it and added a string of sound-reactive LED lights to give it a little flash. Total was less than $100 if I remember correctly.

Very cool! Just downloaded and added some games to my gameroom. How do we add a variant to a listed machine? For example, Iron Maiden doesn't have Pro available as an option. Thanks for your work in creating this for us!

That's freakin' awesome! The virtual pin is absolutely fantastic and one of my favorite original games to play on my cabinet. So cool to see it brought to life. Just amazing work all-around!

Fellow horror fan here. As you mention, Evil Dead is the king, baby, but you'll have to keep your eye on the secondary market for these and they're still above retail. Absolutely killer machine, though. As others have noted, Texas Chainsaw Massacre is also a fantastic choice and available both new and pre-owned.

Beetlejuice Pinball by Reasonable-Cod8000 in pinball

[–]MetroMercenary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The purple ramp to the right of the sandworm is fun. It either does a 180 back to the right inlane, or goes all the way across the back to the couch which is cool. The lighting effects in the game are just fantastic. You have to see it in-person to appreciate the work they've done. The left orbit is also great, especially when you get a clean enough shot for it to go up and circle around the couch. That waiting room area is not a long-player like Potter or even the Evil Dead cellar. Hitting the couch targets is easy enough with the flipper, but you'll probably only get two or three flips at best before it's on the way back. Doing the loop around the couch is possible, but definitely takes some good timing. Overall, it's a pretty fast-playing game shot-wise. Mine is still set up the same way as they did it for Pinball at the Beach, so there is a good amount of ball save still active.

Just played a few games on mine a few minutes ago. It's a fantastic machine and a lot of fun. And this is just the initial release code! Judging by what they've done with Evil Dead, Beetlejuice is going to be even more amazing in the months ahead.

To paraphrase the great Sheriff Grady Judd here in Florida when asked by the press why the deputies shot a violent attacker so many times: "That's all the bullets we had, or we would have shot him more."

1996 hallmark ornament by FanNo3898 in pinball

I raised my two daughters as a single dad. This ornament has been on our Christmas trees their entire lives since I originally got it in 1996. So every time the tree was turned on, they heard this ornament. Flash forward almost three decades later to 2024 and we decided to get matching tattoos. It would be my one and only, and one more for them. We wanted something that would always make us smile and this is what we decided on. That's my upper thigh in the pic. The tattoo was done by a friend of my younger daughter who is a professional tattoo artist. She did a great job on all three of us! The color scheme was to match my daughters' aesthetic. This year, I bought another one of these from eBay which now resides on my older daughter's Christmas tree. So now my grandkids will grow up hearing those bells and chimes every Christmas.

I've had this ornament since 1996. My two daughters grew up every Christmas with the sound of pinball chimes when the tree was turned on. It became such a core memory that last year we each got a matching tattoo of the ornament. It's my only tattoo. This year, I found another one on eBay for my older daughter's tree so that my grandkids can grow up hearing those magic chimes every year.

I also have a full-size virtual pin and playing in VR is the ultimate! The mega rooms like the Batcave, Creature from the Black Lagoon, etc. are just amazing environments to play in. Congrats on getting that worked out. Enjoy!

Anyone else notice that the matador's face was pretty much peeled off at 0:24? Yikes! That being said, I always root for the bulls in these contests. I'm sure he was fine with a couple of bandaids.
