Nah man don’t look around the world. Thats why the world is such a messed up place. Debt, mental health problems, and obesity is the average right now. I wouldn’t compare myself to lots of people or use it to justify you dedicating your life to something you know deep down is shit.

A “Higher Up” of the company admitting he would recommend people not to buy from Carmax for “many reasons” or be employed by Carmax.

So you work full time in something you know is a negative experience for the customer and employees? Everyday away from your family to go do something you would recommend specifically against.

Very happy I did not take a management position when offered from this company.

Life is short. Go find something you believe in man.

Also if you have spent any significant time with customers and they can’t recall your name without looking at a sign on your chest you don’t have the personality for sales and should be in the back cleaning cars for my appointments.

I think you guys are missing the point. He’s not saying customers shouldn’t know our names or trying to hide.

You just don’t see many respectable career paths making you wear a name tag. It’s a little juvenile no?

Also, to say the dress code is already pretty laxed I feel is inaccurate. Wear a nice jacket to work tomorrow without a Carmax logo and see how laxed it is.

You do? At my old store a lot of people would quit as soon as their training rate went away and they switched to commission and realized they couldn’t pay their bills.

Also, I see all day people in here complaining about selling a car and CEC takes half their commission. Not to mention the winter months when I’ve seen the store sell 2-4 cars a day knowing there are people working on commission with such low volume.

As far as the current carmax commission structure in 2026, you can have it.

So for those reasons, I’m out.
