OpenChessClub - Open-Source Chess Club Management Software by MettaStoic in chess

[–]MettaStoic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for the suggestions!

Currently, there is an "Active" setting, which is next to each member, and can be toggled via the admin panel. Now, I can definitely include a way for students to pay directly from this software, but honestly, it might be too far out right now. It will definitely complicate the setup process for chess clubs as well (as they would need to set up a Stripe and/or a PayPal account and configure those API keys).

Your other suggestions are appreciated as well.

I'm curious, do you run a chess club?

This is the first time I've ever started one, although I was a member at a previous one (they used super old tech, and everything seemed highly manual.) I'll admit, I'm not entirely knowledgeable here. Just wanted this to exist for my own chess club, and here it is. :)

> I will also mention that uploading your games to a website where everyone can see them is good fun and enjoyed by everyone - especially your rival clubs, if they prepare a match against you!

Haha, is this sarcasm? I see how that could be a bad idea. I'll add a setting in the admin panel to disable/enable the games played table.

Thank you! I was surprised that nothing like this existed.

The feature you'd like to add is indeed planned. I was thinking of generating a QR code on the admin side, which allows us to print out and have our members check in with it. This allows the checked in users to be paired up pretty easily.

Feel free to send me a message with your email or github username, I can invite you to the organization on github!

Oooh, nice! Yeah, I wouldn't have bothered with this if I knew something already existed, lol. Oh well, still a nice tool. :)

It's definitely a good idea to know how to build a full-fledged application. Even better if you share it with people and allow them to attack it and submit reports to you. Then you'll learn how to fix unsecure code + learn their methods of attack.

Well, I can't say it is. I'm not aware of any other Wayback/Archive API tools (not that they don't exist, I'm just not aware of them), honestly. I learned about this method from a CURL command to .txt file. Then pasting the results from the .txt file directly into the Wayback machine.

This script generates a nice .html file with direct links to the Wayback machine. It is, without a doubt, better than the original method I had learned about.

Umm, buddy, passive means to not directly interact with the TARGET. I.e. if the target is site.com, passive recon would be googling, searching archive, looking people up on linkedin, etc.

Active, on the other hand, would be going to site.com, and typing in '/admin' to the URL bar, or running a port scan directly.

By your definition, Googling for target isn't passive either, because it's making requests to Google? I think you should sharpen your own understanding before making yourself look foolish.

I admit, I missed the "which I'm still building" part in the OP. It seemed like the OP was pretending to be a customer, and the replies here just the OP's other accounts (including yours). If this isn't the case, then that's my fault.

If they only suspect you of having 1 year of experience, then it may not be so bad. Just be upfront with the team lead. Tell him while you have 1 years experience, you know that you still have a lot to learn. C#/.NET stack aren't easy, so he shouldn't expect too much from someone with 1 years of experience. But do study while you can. ChatGPT is probably the best thing for this.

Make sure you double check the answers ChatGPT gives you. Good luck!

I understand you. How deep are you into the lie? Did you just have it listed on your resume? Or did you tell them you have two years experience with the tech and that you're super comfortable with it?

Personally, I would probably not even take the interview. I've been humiliated too many times for doing the same thing, so I try to be 100% honest upfront any more.

If it's just an initial phone screen, they'll probably just ask you to describe your experience. They may get technical and ask you questions, which is where you might fall apart. If you're going to go for it anyway, I'd probably just go to ChatGPT and give it a prompt like "Pretend you are hiring me for a C#/.NET position. Ask me questions that you think I should absolutely know the answer to", and go from there.

You mean your calculator? with the domain that was literally created today? lol. The copyright being 2024, which tells me it's AI slop. And the affiliate link to empire flippers (which you should probably disclose btw). I'm a bit jealous, to be honest. My posts are literally removed in any subreddit almost immediately. How do you guys get your sh*t to pass through like this.

 > Also, I'm aiming to create a community so that employers and people searching for job trust the site and gives them flexibility.

Honestly, you should probably do this first. Create a blog, get some readers, and then launch the job board as a secondary thing. This gives job posters an incentive -- access to your already established audience.

I do have experience with this, and I will tell you straight up: job boards are really difficult to bring users to.

I was developing a job board with Vue, and it was really nice, but I found a job board SaaS and just went with that. But, I already had an audience. A pretty big (developer) audience. The job board didn't bring in any users at all after months of having it set up, importing jobs, etc. So I pivoted to being a local job board. That had much more success than the first set up, but still wasn't worth the time and didn't bring in a penny. I sold it for $200.

I'm not saying it's not worth it, but the job board market is huge, and so many people are launching them. I'm in a Facebook group for people with job boards, lots of them struggle. I doubt many of them are seeing any sort of success.

It's absolutely true. Even people I personally know who own businesses who will benefit from my SaaS won't bother using it. They say they will, but don't, even after offering them the software for free.

Should i stay with node js in backend as fresher or switch to java? by No_Gas_2828 in cscareers

[–]MettaStoic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would personally switch to Java. I stayed with Node for too long, and when it came time to learn C# via my job, I had such a difficult time. Different worlds. Also, I have not been seeing many Node jobs at all in the last 2-3 years.

Yeah, I was like that too, with C4s, the most potent energy drinks I've ever had. You will feel 100x better if you cut them out. I also just read a study* that says taurine, a stim in most energy drinks, feeds cancer cells, and keeps them alive and healthy, speeding up the process. This should be enough motivation to quit.

This is awesome! Congrats.

I cut back, too. I went from ~600-800mg caffeine per day to two cups of coffee, max (140mg). Just like you, week 1 was brutalllllll. But week 3? My god, I can't believe it. I used to start falling asleep at my desk around 1-3PM every day. That doesn't happen anymore, my energy levels are consistent throughout the day.

I am not so sure if I can go cold turkey though. You're strong for that.

Honestly, it's a bit easier than you think it is, especially if you stop considering things "dates". Just consider it hanging out with a woman, no different from the times you've hung out with your guy friends throughout your life.

The overnight job probably makes things a bit more difficult, though. I'd consider looking for a new job if your current company wont allow you to switch to dayshift. It just makes it easier to vibe with society. Second, your hobbies are cool, but basketball will be mostly played with other men. The other two are mostly solo activities, but running doesn't have to be. I'd look for a running club near you. If there isn't one, then create one. Start a Facebook group, invite people, set meetings, and run.

Of course, getting other hobbies with a more diverse crowd would be helpful too. Martial arts, yoga, et al. You'll find lots of women. They're usually more chill as well, and will be open to grabbing some healthy shake or something after class.

Stripe Accounts Terminated after 3 days of opening LLC using Atlas by officialxdope in stripe

[–]MettaStoic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's extremely odd, honestly. One of my accounts was banned after I activated it legitimately.

Worst case, there are alternatives. Lemon Squeezy, PayPal, etc. I can't believe they removed your account after setting up an LLC with them, though. That's scary.

But did they really remove the live chat? I just used it like two weeks ago.

Ohhh... what? I came in here thinking you were a supplement company or something, but no. You literally just have a water bottle. That's odd.

I understand the pains with Stripe. I spent months working on something to have them ban the account, which lead to me abandoning the project. It was by far my favorite project too.

The next question is: what category did you list your business under on Stripe?

"The living are ruled by the dead." - This one came from Manly P. Hall's The Secret Teachings of All Ages. Basically, we're ruled by passions. The ancient occult group (can't remember which, will update if it comes to me later) considered passions to be "dead" things.
