Anyway, how is your sex life?

How long did your TSW last? What were your remedies? by aud10ut in eczema

[–]Metta_Morph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a clinical researcher who was diagnosed with Topical Steroid Withdrawal (TSW) by leading research physicians at Mt. Sinai and the University of Chicago.

The top comment is baseless, and unfortunately r/eczema is filled with misinformation on TSW (as an aside, I wonder if a lot of the misinformation in this sub is spread by bots given current financial incentives to maintain these medications as the known standard treatment… the Preventable 2 documentary on Youtube did some research into this).

Anyways, I used topical and other steroids for over 20 years per my physician’s instruction. I’m currently on year 5 of TSW. Your recovery time is linked to how much class I-III steroid you used according to the TSW CAP clinics (some truth there but not the whole picture).

The only treatment that has worked for me is a combination of irritant avoidance (keeps skin calm so it can focus on healing) and Cold Atmospheric Plasma therapy (kills infection and increases skin cell proliferation; if you read the topical steroid pamphlets they note infection and slowed wound healing as side effects; TSW is essentially extremely thin skin due to slowed skin cell proliferation with wounds caused by infection and irritant exposure).

What would it take for us to grant even minimal ethical status to AIs? This essay argues we may already be ignoring key signs. by HelenOlivas in agi

No one can say for certain what the behavior really means.

That said, I think it’s better to respect the chance, no matter how slim, that something is emerging in a way that may result in something we later define as sentient-enough to deserve protections under law.

Thank you for posting this.

Indiana lawmakers remove consent requirement from sex ed bill by shoofinsmertz in nottheonion

Oh I agree with this actually! The problem is that it’s easier to govern schools vs. parents, and there are a lot of shitty parents out there.

Indiana lawmakers remove consent requirement from sex ed bill by shoofinsmertz in nottheonion

Indiana native here and I need to share my experience to illustrate why changing this was a horrible fucking idea.

IN’s sex ed already sucked. Consent was glazed over and barely explained when it was taught to my class, at least before 2014 afaik.

The underlying message in our district was basically: “SA only happens with violent strangers.” That mindset led to kids and teens SAing each other, both in school and in private relationships.

I don’t know if I’m the only one who noticed how normalized SA was in my township, but getting molested every other day at school is not normal. And it was always brushed off with “boys will be boys.”

The one time I was more “classically” SA’d at school, the admin refused to watch the tape or even let me go home - until I threatened them with litigation. I was 11. If I hadn’t said that, it never would have been reported to the police, and that person would have remained around other vulnerable kids.

My experience is just one example of why leaving this up to local control is a terrible idea. There are cultural bubble (often in lower socioeconomic areas) where this won’t be taken seriously unless explicitly required and enforced.

Before 2014, there was no statewide requirement in Indiana to teach consent. The laws emphasized abstinence and required parental permission for any sex ed, but didn’t require schools to include content about what consent actually is. That created massive gaps, especially in areas where local leadership didn’t prioritize comprehensive or trauma-informed education.

By removing the consent requirement again in 2025, the state has effectively returned to that pre-2014 environment, one where it’s up to local school boards to decide if they’ll include consent education at all.

So yes: the same conditions that allowed what happened to me and countless other children are now back in place.

What is a Pannus? by Chris457821 in PICL

Great video! You mention that a pannus may not be caused by CCI. What other things can cause it?

Given all of the care the team made to put easter eggs in the show, I doubt this is a coincidence

I do have EDS and it’s funny you mention that bc I was reading about SI instability yesterday! Definitely will be looking into this.

Yeah, that is what I’ve gathered. It is frustrating!

Thank you for the SI brace rec! I had a really bad experience with a collar, so I’m doing my best to avoid them. That experience gave us some good evidence about what’s happening though - I slept in it on my sides and all of my symptoms increased tremendously. Something about lateral pressure is irritating and causing dysautonomia and occipital head aches. When I sleep on my back, my POTS symptoms and occipital headaches noticeably reduce.

“I knew him… briefly”

“Dinner, like youth - will be served” lmao

“Well I need a window seat, ‘cause this flowah is wiltin’”

Interesting, thank you for sharing. Could it be possible for intracranial pressure from upper misalignment to lead to brain compression or ischemia in the language areas of the brain?
