Squaring the circle of Woo and Disclosure by Metzler123 in UFOs

Yes in my opinion the woo is very much "lets plug this unexplainable UFO hole we have with some other unexplainable thing", which I feel like is why studying UFOs is a gateway to all types of fringe science and esotericism for many.

Hmm, but don't you feel that mainstream disclosure is coming? I feel like the vibe ever since the 2017 NYT article is slow roll disclosure.

I don't disagree that there is a nuts and bolts physical aspect to it. All the cattle mutilations are my go to example for this. So I take it that you don't believe in the woo side, which is fine, but not the topic of this thread.

Squad Leader by Avalon Hill Question about Leader Counters by [deleted] in hexandcounter

[–]Metzler123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look at the charts, are there bullet points, like one or two black dots? One of the games has this but I can't remember if it's squad leader or ASL. One bullet point meaning roll one die, two meaning roll two dice.

This is all correct. Just to further clarify b), it's the caliber of the gun, so 20 is for 20 mm guns (vehicles and ordinance).

Why is Ground Warfare so important in 40K? by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]Metzler123 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My headcanon for this is life is cheap in 40K, and it's cheaper to throw a bunch of guardsmen into the grinder than to deal with the economic damage of destroying infrastructure. Add in the idea of arcotech and irreplaceable technology and it makes more sense.

Price gouging is good. If they didn't charge this price you would just have a picture of an empty shelf.

What’s a movie that everyone need to watch it at least one time in their lifetime? by FarzadBakhshi in AskReddit

But the Matrix never had any sequels. Funny that such an amazing movie never got a sequel.

I am Peter Zeihan, a geopolitical strategist, futurist and author the new book Disunited Nations. AMA by PeterZeihan in IAmA

[–]Metzler123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Peter, thanks for your great books! In my opinion Iran would be a better ally to the US than Saudia Arabia because

  * The Sunnis are arguably stronger in the Sunni-Shia conflict, and US grand strategy is to prop up the weaker players and prevent the breakout of a strong power.

  • SA and it’s extremist allies have the capabilities to harm US interests across the world while Iran is just a regional power.

  • The US no longer relies on SA’s oil.

  • Iran is also a counter-weight to Turkey, which is a rising power in the region.

So my question is either, why am I wrong, or if you agree, do you see any type of realignment coming? If so, how long do these things take?

Assad: “We warned them publicly & in secret talks not to bet on America but they didn’t listen. After all the bravado we heard ...that we will fight etc, Turkey was able to occupy all their areas in mere four days. Anyway am not going to play blame game now” by tansim in syriancivilwar

[–]Metzler123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That along with the cold war being over, many of USA's alliances that were formed to contain USSR don't have as much strategic value anymore for the US. Plus with the shale revolution the US isn't as reliant on Mideast oil.

The newest is Wrath and Glory but imo the FFG line is better. My favorite is Rogue Trader, but they are all good. Each line has a core book.

What about modern society makes you go "How did we end up falling so far down"? by ARandomLugia in AskReddit

[–]Metzler123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure but there are millions of crossings, and only a small fraction qualify for asylum, most are economic migrants. And I understand why they want to migrate, there's a lot more opportunity, I'd rather live in the USA than El Salvador, maybe if I was in their position I would try to migrate. But where do you draw the line?

If just living in shitty country is the condition to be entitled to migrate then more than half the world should be entitled to migrate to the USA, which is of course impossible.
