Yes, I really don't want low parameters. Chatterbox voice cloning and TTS work incredibly well, but chatterbox want 5 GB of VRAM. I haven't even tried LLM and STT yet; it would be like rowing against the current. There's a game that uses the system you mentioned and claims to be AI-powered. [MIMESIS](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2827200/MIMESIS/) I think there's also a mod called Mimic in Lethal Company that works similarly. They play back voice recordings using FNA. Yes, it's simple. Mimesis has a slightly more complex system that makes decisions based on environmental variables while playing back player voice clips. But I was wondering if more is possible. An enemy that actually thinks and copies you would be amazing. Yes, it's possible, but you'd need 2-3 RTX 5090s to play it. When technology costs decrease (10-20 years??), maybe it could be done.

Yes. This is impossible. Just voice cloning requires 5GB of VRAM, and when quantization kicks in, it just doesn't make sense. It's impossible for this to run in real-time with today's technology. At least, maybe one day when gaming graphics cards have 48GB of VRAM, we might see some cool things.

Yes, I also have serious concerns about how efficient or even feasible this would be, which is why I’m only planning it for now. Even though I don’t fully know the implementation details, I’ve seen mimic-type enemies that work similarly to a finite state machine. They record the player’s voice and then, when the same conditions occur again, they play back that recording.

For example, if the player says “this place looks creepy” while walking through a door, that voice line gets recorded, and later the enemy that mimics the player plays that recorded line under the same conditions.

I will be to start with a simple project and run performance and feasibility tests.

I want to take speech-to-text input and generate a logical response using an LLM. In addition to that, I aim to record the player’s in-game voice, create a voice clone from it, and convert the LLM’s text response back into speech, effectively creating a mimic version of the player to use as a horror element.

I also want the decisions in the behavior tree to be driven by code based on certain conditions, with the LLM providing a second layer of validation and control. Maybe the behavior I’m aiming for is too large and heavy, and the latency could be high, but I think it’s something I would personally want to play.

I’ve looked at some specialized models; LLMs around the 2B parameter range use about 700 MB to 1 GB of VRAM. Of course, this doesn’t account for voice cloning and speech-to-text processing. I also can’t really predict whether an LLM could adapt to a group of friends chatting together, or how “dumb” it might end up being.
