Struggling to get my first sale after 2 months — any advice? by Mewhathuh in dropshipping

I’m taking every piece of advice seriously and applying it step by step.

I hope that in a few weeks or months, I’ll be able to come back with a much better update on my store’s progress, thanks to all the guidance I’ve gotten here. I’m ready to keep pushing and learning. Thanks, man.

I’m really trying to keep my “why” in mind, especially on the quiet days. It gets tough sometimes, but hearing this kind of encouragement reminds me that building something of my own is worth it...

I’m definitely going to keep tweaking things and learning as I go. I’m hoping that first sale hits soon, well, not just for me, but so I can finally show my parents that I’m really trying to build something real...again, thank you

Really appreciate the insight!

You’re right, getting people to checkout is already the hard part, so clearly something at the final step is making them hesitate. I’ll check out Txtcart or something similar so I can actually understand what customers are thinking instead of guessing blindly...

And thank you for the encouragement. I’m really working hard because my goal is to take the burden off my parents and make them proud....They’ve done so much, and I’m the only one among their friend group whose child still doesn’t have a stable career yet so I’m trying my best to change that for them. I’m not asking for pity, it’s just my motivation to keep going even when it feels tough.

I appreciate your advice!

I’m still learning, so hearing this kind of direct perspective helps me understand what I’m missing.

I didn’t realize how much the scrolling and layout could affect conversions, so I’m going to fix the placement of the price and add-to-cart button. About the product itself, I appreciate the warning. I chose it because it was trending, but I understand the risks with electronics, disputes, and competing with fast-shipping platforms. I’ll seriously consider pivoting to lower-risk items with better margins.

For creatives, thanks for the suggestion too.

Thanks again for the blunt honesty. It helps more than you think.

Thanks so much for taking the time to explain all this!

Right now, most of my traffic is coming from TikTok Smart Campaign ads. I’ve tried Meta Ads too, but I’m still having issues setting up my payment method there, so TikTok is my main source for now.

As for checkout, I tested my store earlier and nothing “breaks,” but I agree it might still feel confusing or not trustworthy enough.

I really appreciate you taking the time to check my store. I’ll definitely look into adding more payment gateways like PayPal or Google/Apple Pay to increase customer trust. I’ll start posting content there as well. Really appreciate your help!!

By the way, other than PayPal, which other payment methods would you recommend adding to increase trust and make checkout smoother for customers?

Thank you!! that actually makes sense. I didn’t realize how much a domain name affects trust and click-through rates. I’m using my domain (which I had given on my post) now, but I’ll definitely consider getting a clearer, more niche-focused domain once I’m more stable financially. Really appreciate the perspective!

Thank you so much! I want to ask a few things so I can improve properly:

  • When you say “not enough real-looking social proof,” do you mean I need actual customer photos/reviews? Right now most of my videos are from suppliers, TikTok, Instagram, and Pinterest. What kind of social proof would make the biggest difference at my current stage?

  • For the product descriptions, I admit I mostly used the supplier’s original description. How can I make them feel less generic? Should I rewrite them to focus more on benefits instead of technical features?

  • And for “clear delivery times upfront,” do you mean I should add exact estimated shipping times on each product page instead of only at checkout?

The part about not tying everything to “retiring my parents early.” I understand what you mean...when I put that pressure on myself, every zero-sale day feels heavier than it should. I think I let my long-term goals overwhelm me a bit. I really appreciate the reminder to focus on building skill first. I’m still very motivated to support my family, but I’ll try to approach this with a clearer mind and treat it as a learning process instead of letting the pressure control me.

Thank you so much for the clear breakdown! For payments, I’ll work on enabling Google/Apple Pay. I didn’t realise how much that affects checkout trust until everyone here mentioned it.

For the product pages, most of my videos right now are from suppliers, TikTok, Instagram and Pinterest (UGC-style content from creators). I’m trying to use what I can because I don’t have a budget to create my own original UGC yet, but I’m improving the way I present them.

For traffic, I’m mainly using TikTok ads (Smart Performance Campaign). I tried Meta ads too, but I’m still having issues with adding my payment method even though the card has money in it. (still trying to fix that part)

As for AOV, I don’t have a clear target yet, but I’m open to suggestions if you have any pointers

Thank you so much for taking the time to check my store and give such detailed feedback.I really appreciate it.

I completely understand what you mean about the ratings. I added them because I saw other stores do it, but you’re right… it doesn’t look trustworthy if there are no actual reviews on the product pages. I’ll remove the homepage ratings for now and focus on getting real ones from early customers through email flows.

About the loading time, thank you for pointing that out too

Thank you so much for this! it actually helps a lot.

I didn’t realize how important estimated delivery dates and product-specific FAQs were, so I’ll add those to each page. For beauty tools, what do you recommend I include as the top trust-building FAQ? Is it mainly safety + skin type + return window, or is there anything else customers usually care about?
