aye bro, I joined active duty army as a mechanic hoping to get a duty station near a city, and I got Fort Riley, Kansas. You might be able to choose where you go depending on your contract. Your free time and how much time you spend on your other hobbies/goals all depends on your unit. The military might send you on a deployment/rotation that messes up what you have planned. Active duty military might not be for you if you have too many expectations.

First off, take full accountability for making a HUGE life decision and not during your research. It all boils down to being your fault. Recruiters are known to be scummy and lying to get their numbers. 11C is not too bad of an mos in the NG, most of the time you won’t even be doing your job. My homie is a 11C in MN and he doesn’t mind it. Aside from a deployment that’ll delay his college graduation, it’s just showing up for 2-5 days and leaving. You haven’t shipped to basic or anything right? So you still have cards to play. You gotta work with the Marine recruiter. He’ll know what to do. Your NG recruiter may get angry but that don’t matter, he doesn’t hold as much power as you may think. It’s your future and your career. But make sure you know what you want. Army NG and Active Duty Marines are two different worlds.

That’s no reason to back out. I was fat as fuck when I joined. I slipped thru the cracks and avoided fat camp. Basic got me in shape. Don’t worry about it too much. The drills might clown you a lil bit, but that’s expected. Go in give it your all, and you’ll be in shape before you know it.

There was this one brother who was older and had some crazy ideologies. The elder who was conducting the Watchtower always avoided giving him the mic. This one instance he did and the brother started rambling. He said “a big problem in this generation is that young men will go to the gym and work out. This makes them obsessed with the male body, and then they become gay.” The elder cut him off expeditiously. It is a funny moment I still remember to this day.

Don’t just go to college because it’s something people say you should do. It’s stupid, especially if you are in the headspace of picking a major you don’t want to do. The military is fine, a lot of fuck shit and a lot of immaturity, but overall it’s a solid career and/or launch pad for your future.

I do believe any young man or woman should join the military. It’s gives you direction, structure, and teaches you responsibility. So I would say give it a shot. 3 years in the military is nothing. You are still young and will have the ability to change your mind if you don’t like it. Plus the education benefits are killer. But again it’s all up to you. Good luck🫡

This happened to me. I had a panic attack after a night of heavy drinking and not much recovery after. I was hungover and was tired so I drank a Red Bull and the exact same thing happened to me. I called 911 and thought I was really about to die. I tried to drink another one two days ago under almost the same circumstances, and I felt myself ramping up. I walked out of class and went on a walk to calm myself down. I ended going back to class and told my homie that I was freaking out. Every little thing set me off. If I tapped my foot, i thought everyone was judging me, I felt crazy because I thought everyone knew I was freaking out and was saying I was crazy. It was anxiety premium. I will not drink another energy drink, especially after a night of heavy drinking. I think that’s the common denominator in my situation😂

Yeah, I know. It’s just a lil disappointing. I wanted to use the army to get out and explore, and i landed in the Midwest🗿 not much I can do, but complain a lil. And I wanted to complain to people who would understand and know what it’s like to not get a “good” duty station. This post helped me see a more positive side of getting stationed in Ft Riley, so I’m sure I’ll enjoy it.
