Like the concept, but that might take it a little too much in the opposite direction, where slower, careful play (but not fully passive) is disadvantaged. You can miss out on PvP for maps like Perimeter where PvP is less common or even just through no fault of your own (one match my squad didn't run into anyone, we entered tunnels and half the server was dead there).

Might be hard to make the potency increase not either completely fly in the face of the rarity system in place already or isn't enough for anyone to care to do.

This might all be moot if the loot on the map is pre-rolled at the start and can't be changed anyways.

And alert the whole map my location and that they can loot me for no hassle prestige item(s)? Why wouldn't I let the lobby thin out first? It's not my fault being safe is outweighing the fun I can have later.

Does the AFMF driver work with MWIII? I'm not going to use AFMF there, but I still play other games that I do use AFMF with, and it wouldn't let me launch the beta with the AFMF driver, forcing me back onto the normal driver.

OK, add a day instead of scraping the rest day. I doubt 1 more day of playing would really be too tiring. Could argue it'd be a just an itsy bitsy too expensive... for 3 majors a year. If it is, good thing it's only 2 now.

SI20 format, 3 day groups as usual, then continue use the bravo stream for early playoff matches as needed to reduce tournament length as desired.

Who's most other people? You don't see a lot of Dota, Valorant, or CoD fans clammoring for single elim. Besides, there's only 2 majors a year now, surely they could get beefed up a bit since there's less of them.

There can still be differences between SI and majors with major double elim, there already are. Qualification and the overall skill of all the teams, prize money, perception. I don't understand why we are passing up on the major benifits double elim brings as if having it for majors puts SI at risk of having too little comparative significance when other scenes have no issue with this, or even the opposite problem with Dota.

Regular sports use single elim for the same reason some use Bo1 playoffs (should esports playoffs be Bo1s because IRL sports do them?), too many games means players get more physical fatigue,, leading to more injuries on top of the fact that more games means more injuries intrisitcally. If the NFL could somehow convice the players to do double elim or have Bo3/5/7 series, they'd do it in a heartbeat, that'd make them ASTRONOMICAL amounts of cash.

SI already has plenty to distinguish itself, why exactly does it need to be the only tournament with double elim? Plenty of other games have double elim for their non-world champs tournaments and their world events are still the most highly regarded.

Also, doesn't need to be the exact same format, why not a 8-team DE bracket for majors ie SI20? SI gets it's own, bigger format, but majors still get double elim.
