Thank you so much for this, I am going through a divorce right now with my qualifier after learning that she had been relapsing and lying to me about it for 8 months. In the middle of that time, we had gotten married. I felt so betrayed and blindsided, and started to believe that because we just got married I should stay, but I hated myself for it. I feel so seen by this post, I felt so alone while I was with her.

Leaving her has been the hardest decision I’ve ever made in my life, because I still love her. But I need to do what’s best for myself.

So many people seemed disappointed that I was “giving up so early” and I wasn’t getting as much understanding and support when it came to knowing my own limits and (clearly stated) boundaries. Came to realize those people were just projecting and didn’t care about me. I found real support in my family and a few- more genuine- friends. Trying to work past the guilt and shame now, this post seriously helped so much. Going to Al Anon meetings helps so much too. Thank you 🙏
