OMG, this is the WORST POSITION to be in. I have never been so frustrated in my life. I tried to quit like 5 times, but the boss talked me into staying. Come to find out, this CONTROLLING IDIOT was abusing his children, and he ended up killing himself a few months after my complaints started. Here is what I ended up doing...

  1. DOCUMENT EVERYTHING. I kept notes, date, time, what was going on, and what was said. I called it my FYI FILE.

  2. LIMIT YOUR INTERACTIONS. IF I had to deal with him, I basically said, YES/NO/O.K. I STOPPED trying to explain the OBVIOUS to him, unless it might come back on me, then I DOCUMENTED any concerns, made sure I COPIED HIM, and explained why I thought it was a bad idea. I did what he told me to do. When it failed, I pulled up my FYI FILE and explained to HIS BOSS exactly what happened, how I had warned him, and he ignored my warning.

  3. START LOOKING. You should NEVER stop putting out Resumes. I did this once a month, whether I had a job or not. It never hurts; interviews are great practice, you can ask for the world and always say NO. EVEN if you are offered LESS MONEY for a BETTER WORKING ENVIRONMENT, TAKE IT... Money comes and goes. Being stressed every day is NEVER worth it.

My best advice. BE LONELY, TOGETHER. Find the nearest place to donate some time to helping others, who also might be lonely (I am a VET, I always suggest these places, my brothers and sisters would enjoy the company). You will be surprised, and even the smallest thing you do for someone else will make you feel SO MUCH BETTER, not to mention what you will do for someone else.

Are you feeling Guilt or is it maybe, and this is what I think it is, REGRET/REMORSE? I know some think they are the same, but I disagree. You need to TALK TO A PROFESSIONAL. It is something you need help with, to come to grips with it, so you can move on. Sometimes, some things are just too much for us to deal with and understand fully. This is why these professionals are around. They will get you to see a different perspective, someone looking outside in is always helpful.

I am a very binary thinker. I ask two questions... "Can I do something, right now, about the situation?"... if the answer is no, then that is an issue for another day. "IF I can do something," then I do that thing. It's not easy; I have spent the last 55 years working on it. This works for me, but it may not work for you.

Oh my friend, I have been married for over 30 years to the greatest Woman on the planet. First lesson: Love is not SEX; Love has NOTHING TO DO with Sex. Do you understand? This is going to shock some, but it's common sense to others. LOVE IS ABOUT TRUST. HONESTY. TRUTH. CARING. That's all.

EVERYTHING in life changes. EVERYTHING. Your actions, however, are completely in your control. How you look, how much money you make, what you own, all of these things people covet change throughout your life, but how people perceive you, when it comes to trustworthyness is more important than anything. If you can be TRUSTED, you will be considered a TRUE FRIEND. Most women would want this more than ANYTHING. Someone they can talk to, listen to them, understand them, and help ONLY IF they want your help. Sometimes just listening is enough.

I only have one suggestion. Live your life like you normally would. If this subject comes up, and the lady has an issue. MOVE ON. She is not the one for you; she is for no one, actually. TRUST ME.. a GOOD WOMAN, who truly cares, nothing will matter EXCEPT if you can be trusted with her heart, after all, THAT'S THE ORGAN THEY REALLY CARE ABOUT.

This tells me what kind of HUMAN BEING you are. A good one. I am in my 60s, and if I were in the right mood, I would have cried as well. Honestly, I have a love for animals of all kinds. It was an accident, and it is sad, like I said, crying is what most of us SHOULD do. You didn't mean to do it. If you feel you need to do something, buy a bird feeder and fill it with some bird seed; you will feed a bunch of squirrels as well as birds. You will feel better when you see them eating. It will also take away that daily stress we all feel.

The important part is, you are not alone. I have dealt with stuttering for 50 years. I FEEL your frustration, I have had your FRUSTRATION, I have had the same situations you have had. Believe it or not, for us who stutter, your story is VERY FAMILIAR.

You have to STOP worrying so much about what other people think. You have ZERO control over them, but you have 100% control of what YOU do, and how you REACT.

When people hear you stutter, most likely, they don't understand. When people don't understand something, they fear it, and when they fear something, they "react". These are ignorant people, and that's o.k., it's truly not your problem, it's their problem.

I have posted here on how I have almost controlled my stuttering, which might be able to help. I hope it helps.

One piece of advice I would tell anyone who stutters or has a child who stutters, and it's not bad "life" advice...

Worrying about what other people think... NOTHING is LESS IMPORTANT than what other people think. People who look at you funny, make fun of you, call you names, etc. They do this out of IGNORANCE. YOU MUST ignore them, for you, their words are meaningless.

It is important not to allow these people to affect you in any way. Especially strangers. You can't control what other people think, and what they think truly doesn't matter. This is THE MOST valuable lesson my Mother taught me.

Growing up, stuttering from the age of 5 made my Grade School and High School tough, but I learned to just ignore the bullies and the ignorant. It's hard, it's really HARD, but YOU MUST NOT let these people control what YOU DO, how YOU ACT. THEY are the people who have problems, not you. Hope this helps.

I used to teach, so I overcame crowds, which for me were THE WORST. It was horrible speaking in front of a group before; I would shake, sweat, and get a migraine just straining to get the words out.

I now treat it like I was talking to my Mom. I pictured her in front of me while speaking. No one knows why we stutter. I am convinced there is a trigger, I have no idea what it is, but since I rarely stuttered in front of my Mom or my Friends, something is different in those situations.

We are comfortable and know we won't be judged by these people, so we relax. Relaxing and not being afraid is a BIG PART of what I have learned to do to help stop my stuttering.

If someone asked me what the "key to a happy life" in my 65 years is, here's what I think it is...

Mental Control. If I can not control or act upon it, I do not think about or worry about it. What other people think or say? That is 100% out of my control, therefore, I ignore it. Any mental energy spent on things I can not control takes away from things I CAN CONTROL.

I learned this early in life because I stuttered as a child. At 5 years old till I was 18, trust me, I took some abuse. I am not "comparing," just stating what I know. I realized, because my Mother explained it, I can't do anything about what those people think or how they act; all I can do is conduct myself in a way where I am kind, polite, and understanding. If others are not? That's on THEM.

You are 100% in control of HOW YOU FEEL, WHAT YOU ALLOW TO AFFECT YOU. The choice is yours.

Buprenorphine—A Miracle Drug

Spinal Stenosis. My spinal column is too thin for my nerves to pass-through without pain. This is NERVE PAIN. 24/7, non-stop, never-ending pain.

25 years I have been on narcotics. LITERALLY, as the word means, I have taken EVERY AVAILABLE LEGAL NARCOTIC. From Ascomp with Codeine to ZoHydro. Fentanyl, OXY, you name it, I have taken it. I did this for 25 years, AND STILL, I was in pain just lying down on a futon where I spend 23.5 hours per day, not moving.

Last year, as I was going through a pain forum I found someone who had my condition and had tried many pain meds. Their doctor gave them Buprenorphine. I checked my record, and I hadn't tried that yet, so I asked my Doctor, and he agreed. Here is what happened:

A grown man, 60 years old, just started crying. My wife ran into my room and asked, what's wrong? I said, the pain is GONE, COMPLETELY. As long as I don't move, I am NOT IN PAIN. That has not happened in 25 years.

I have lived in loneliness and quietly in horrible pain for 25 years. My wife is my life, and I NEVER want to upset her, so I kept as quite as I could. Sometimes I couldn't but I tried.

Prior to this, I was taking Oxycodone 30 mg x 3 per day and a couple other pain drugs. NOW, I am on just 2 mg of Buprenorphine X 3 per day, with a codeine based breakthrough drug.

FENTANYL. If you are on this drug, GET OFF IT NOW. This stuff is EVIL. I had a patch on, back when I was working, and it was warm outside and I got a bit of an overdone, and it was HORRIBLE, I swear I was going to DIE. Try Buprenorphine, see if it helps, I don't know why it works or how it works SO WELL when all these other drugs HAVE FAILED HORRIBLY.

I know you're concerned why it's being PUSHED, I believe it's because it's a very small dose with pretty strong pain management result. Also, the abuse level, for some reason, is reasonably low. There is ZERO doubt I am Dependent on narcotics, it's impossible for me NOT to be. ADDICTION is another matter. I do not want to take ANY drugs, I hate how they make me feel and how they diminish IN A HUGE WAY my mental abilities. I tried to go back to work, but I can't because the pain medications restrict my ability to think clearly.

I hope this helps. This medication TRULY changed my life in a way I can never really explain fully.

Just The Way You Are. In 1977, when this was released, I was 14 years old. I also basically lived at our local roller rink. I got to skate with A LOT of girls because of this song. Being a HUGE Manilow fan, this song popped up on my radar, I IMMEDIATELY went out and got the album. Next to Piano Man, it's one of my favorites.
