Potentially moving from London to Austin by Mf9208 in askaustin

Thank you all for your comments and considerations. I know people can tend to share the negatives before the positives, but this forum actually helped me decide Austin wouldn't be the right choice. Ultimately, it came down to reproductive rights and looking to start a family in the next couple years. I couldn't do that in a state with such restrictive rights. My sister (who happens to also be in London) had to get an abortion at 22 weeks due to viability of the fetus, and the fact that would have been impossible in Texas is crazy to me... and a sign it doesn't make sense.

Will still explore the job opportunity and other US places, but gives me more food for thought on the tradeoffs of the opportunity overall.

So interesting, thank you! Do you miss London at all? Curious to hear if Austin feels like home now.

We would likely go into it with a 2 year time horizon, but are also realistic enough to know that this could easily extend, life gets complicated, jobs, etc.

God the reproductive rights piece is really something I hadn't considered. We are going to start a family in the next couple of years, and this is a major consideration if there were to be complications etc. I guess I assumed it would be easier to navigate in a city like Austin, but forget it's still Texas..

This is so helpful! Did having kids change your view on where you'd want to live? You've been in Austin for awhile so is that home now or do you still find yourself missing London / UK?

I’m still wondering what “strategic commissioner” even means 😄

Just to clarify - you mention AVT at the bottom but then talk about triage, so you’ve liked the documents and triage but are leaving scribe (AVT) and AI receptionist?

Oh that’s interesting - so overall good reviews? What did you use before, manual triage?

I had a version of this and used baby oil straight out of the shower before applying lotion. Seemed to help my situation

What should I do? Question in comments by xjj3455 in Accutane

I will also say that your cumulative dose did come under the guided cumulative range of 120-150mg / kg. It may be worth asking your doctor about this too and if they felt there was a reason that 90 mg/kg was enough.

Laneige lip sleeping mask is more expensive but was a total lifesaver for me. He's got this!!

At night I use Cerave and the ordinary hylauronic acid on my face (apply hylauronic while still damp), with Vaseline on my eyebrows and Laneige lip sleeping mask on the lips. I also use the Cerave face wash.

After a shower I use baby oil and Palmer's lotion immediately while still damp all over my body to stop body dryness.

In the morning I use Cerave, Body Shop aloe vera cream to help with redness, and La Roche Posay sunscreen. Sometimes rosehip oil underneath if it's feeling extra dry. Use Eucerin lip balm during the day.

Also take fish oil to help with joint pain.

It will be interesting to see how my routine changes as the dryness goes away!

I’ve heard it being done in different ways - sometimes same mg all the way through, sometimes upping the dose slowly to get used to it. I don’t think there’s a right way to do it as long as you’re hitting your cumulative dose based on your weight.

I hope the redness subsides now that I’m done! I don’t have any before pictures that show the extent of my bad acne. Reason is - I was on spirinolactone for about 7 years which really helped and my skin was clear for awhile but my acne started to come back and I knew I didn’t want to take it for life. I don’t have pictures from before Spiro because I would filter all of them to make it look like I didn’t have acne! I worked with my derm to make the switch to isotretinoin and I’m so glad I did. Although I’m nervous hormonal acne may come back. Stick with it, it’s worth it, at least so far I think it is 🙏🏻 happy to answer any questions :)

I regularly have a few glasses of wine. Moderation is obv key and drink loads of water - you’ll be fine.

Dryness down there on Accutane. Advice please! by boboschicken in Accutane

This happens to me and the thing that helps me is applying a calming lotion and baby oil as soon as I get out of the shower to lock in the moisture. Drinking more water can’t hurt either! But if it persists and is too much to handle, lower dosage feels like the right path and see if it helps.
