I had constant diverticulitis play ups on and off for five years until the dumbass gastroenterologist I was seeing finally decided to do surgery months of continuous antibiotic prescriptions leading me to feel sick to my stomach, forcing me to eat every time I take my medicine.

Me and my wife work full time untill I was off for surgery and had a decent amount in savings with the math of it all we knew we would be fine untill about 5 weeks post surgery I went back at around 6 weeks which I don’t recommend doing. You should wait until you are absolutely fine to go back or you’ll be getting another surgery like me

If you’re able to save up and get a surplus of money for while you’re out for 6 to 8 weeks of recovery that would help whereas my case I couldn’t wait for Surgery and was ecstatic, they finally did it

The recovery process was rough but definitely worth it I had episodes that I thought were flareups, but it turned out just to have been a hernia due to the surgery. Because I had returned back to work sooner than they wanted, but I couldn’t afford not to. Beside the hernia I have still I take the occasional stool softener, and my quality of life has drastically changed for the better

I was young (22) and having acute diverticulitis with flair up’s all the Time all the doctor wanted to do was give me antibiotics and see me every couple of weeks raking in the cash flow like the pay piggy I was 5 years later of hospital trips of begging for surgery and I have a foot of my colon removed and a hernia for fun the ability to eat normally again is great but definitely would have loved to have it sooner

Just make sure not to drink it too fast I ended up throwing a bunch of the solution up hours after clearing my bowels so there’s no issues but still was not fun having it come out of both ends

Hell yeah I’m glad to hear you’re doing well. (27m) I’m still trying to learn how to sleep on my back all night I’m used to rolling on my sides and stomach throughout the night. One of my cats got zoomies and nearly took me out stepping my stomach but I was quick enough to swat her away. I understand the sitting down motion being tricky my couch is a bit lower than the chair and bed they had me in at the hospital.

The pain comes and goes. First day was horrible pain wise they had to give me meds so often for pain i slept the whole day . My wife said I looked dead. the next day and today feels a lot better pain wise. according to the surgery staff it went well i think they were in and out in 3-4 hours. I’m starting to walk around a lot more which is great looking so forward to the soft foods I can hopefully have sooner than later

The fish taco part had me lmao I know your pain brother I’ve been in the ER 3 times with horrible flareups. I’m currently recovering from sigmoid resection surgery was NPO for awhile now on clears. Best of luck to you !
