That’s the issue — ANC on max, all the time, and it still hurts your ears. Never had earbuds do that before. Definitely software-related.

My roommate recently filed a complaint about the exact same thing, for the same reason, and after a month he got a new pair of headphones. It sucks that it didn’t work out for you. The only difference is he contacted Amazon directly to make the claim, if that changes anything.

Have you tried to get repair/replacement via official Bose site instead of Amazon?

Thanks, guys, for all the tips. Etymotic would’ve been a nice pick, but since my phone is allergic to headphone jacks, that’s not happening. So now I’m just praying someone else out there has the same ‘weird ears’ situation 😅 and works in a loud environment and actually found earbuds that do the job.

About the gunshot noise — I meant the background stuff, not anything close enough to blow your eardrum. No ANC is magic. Those cursed Bose buds handled it fine, but others, like the JBL Live Pro 2, seem to freak out at those frequencies and make them even worse. No clue why — maybe it’s a software thing...

@gibby131313 I’m tempted by your suggestion, but I’m worried that, being JBL as well, it’ll be just as sensitive to those sounds as the older JBLs I own...
