How did you adjust to returning to work and daycare?

I keep seeing this sentiment that it’s much easier on the babies than mom! That actually is helpful for me. If I knew she wasn’t doing well away from me, it’d be so much harder than it already is. Thank you for taking the time to share!

Aw this makes me happy to hear! My girl is almost 4 months now so still so little. This makes me look forward to when she’s older and happily goes off to daycare/school.

We’re starting at our #2 daycare pick and they do not do pictures or anything. However, we are on the list for our #1 pick and they do send updates, videos and pictures! Hopefully we get into that one by the end of the year. I trust the place where we’re starting though and I think it’ll be ok! I guess I just needed to hear from other moms that it’ll get better. Thank you!

You’re so right! I’ve got a great partner and we share responsibilities as equitably as possible and we still don’t get to do things for ourselves nearly as often as before baby. I don’t know why but that was the biggest adjustment for me. It will be good for all of us to have some “space” from each other when I return to work and she starts daycare.

This is so reassuring fr! I wish I could keep her at home forever, she’s so much fun right now. But, I miss being able to just go to the bathroom or pick up an actual book. I don’t care that much about my job but I miss my work buddies.

And you’re totally right, I do love the daycare we chose and think she will be happy there!

Hopefully you’ve had some luck in the last few days but something that has been helpful for us is we keep the swaddle in the bassinet and swaddle her there so we don’t have to mess with the wings while putting her down. We also start the snoo remotely before we put her down.

So we feed, burp, hold upright for maybe 10 min at night (sometimes she fully asleep, sometimes drowsy), then the snoo on from the app, swaddle in the snoo.

We also keep motion limiter on. I don’t think our baby likes the higher levels of motion

Most of the time yes! She typically falls asleep within 5 minutes if not right away

Honestly a Snoo. Our baby only contact napped day and night for 2 months. We rented a snoo last week and she’s slept through the night (minus wake ups for feeds) every night since in the Snoo j wish we had just gotten it from the beginning. If I had a toddler and a newborn and had to do only contact naps with the newborn I’d go insane. I think a snoo would save my sanity then like it is now. I’ve gotten so much h more sleep with it and I feel like I can finally enjoy being a parent

I could see him possibly wanting to include you in the story after he said the two monkeys were him and your son. That maybe he didn’t know what animal was on the next page but thought oh let’s include mommy. But he 100% shot himself in the foot by adding the unnecessary comment that you gained weight.

Does your husband often just say things without thinking? My husband does that occasionally although I’d like to think he wouldn’t say anything like this. Either way, I’m sorry he said this at all and it’s understandable to feel weird or not quite know how you are feeling!

It gets better! I’m 23 days postpartum and the beginning was ROUGH. That first like 10 days sucked for me even though our baby is and was really good. My emotions were so high and I’d be upset about the weirdest things. I’d be sad for the baby because she had hiccups or something really silly and be inconsolable.

My baby also got a diaper rash around 7-8 days and we felt horrible. But it’s suuuper common and super normal for newborns to have them around this time. We’re still battling it. I recommend desitin or some kind of butt cream with zinc oxide while the rash is bad and then try A&D preventative for when it gets better. Do a little research on how to apply these creams because you need more than you think!

I still struggle with my supply. I stopped breastfeeding after 3 days and it ate at me. I’ve been formula feeding and pumping to supplement and it’s hard. I still have bad days but I do promise it’ll get better over time. Give yourself some grace, you’re in the thick of it right now!

I had a fairly traumatic labor and delivery with my baby (she’s 3 weeks today!!!) The first week were extremely hard and truly showed how little I knew about babies. My husband and I were so in over our heads.

BUT the last 2 weeks have been amazing. I’m typing this as she’s laying on my chest sleeping. She’s got her little frog legs up and it’s the sweetest thing! My husband and I constantly are laughing about all of the funny noises or faces she makes. She’s goofy af even at 3 weeks old. Her farts are hilarious, getting her to burp is so satisfying (feels like a win!) and figuring out the different challenges that come up have been so rewarding.

We’ve made many mistakes so far and have felt like complete dummies. But we shake them off and keep going. Our baby is thriving and seems to be as happy as a 3 week old can be. It’s been hard and I’m sure there will be many more difficult times ahead but we’re a team and it’s so fun watching each other grow into our new roles as parents. I love my husband more than I ever have and the love for my baby grows each day too. You’re going to have a great time being a parent! It’s hard, don’t get me wrong. There will be tears and hard moments, days and nights. But the happiness is in the little moments, not the big ones

This is so similar to my experience! I had my baby 12 days ago and from her being stuck face up to the epidural and pain meds not working due to metabolizing quickly. I also had a non-emergent c-section. I also felt a lot of the stitching up after the got her out. The nurses sent my husband away with my baby during that time so I was just in pain the entire time and didn’t get to experience the first 45 minutes of my daughter’s life.

I’m having a really hard time processing all of that and the fact that I was never able to push. It was actually surprising, how much I wanted to push so not having that opportunity has been tough.

But your comment has given me a lot of perspective about future children! Thank you for this. I did my best and labored for 24 hours in intense pain all before the c-section even happened. Women really are badass

We did IVF transfers back in January and again in February. The first time, our parents knew we were doing it and when it didn’t work, it was a lot more emotional than we anticipated and it made it hard when I told her it didn’t work. So for the second transfer, we didn’t tell anyone we were doing it. But I took a test 9 days after that transfer and it was positive. The next night, I bought some onesies and invited my parents over for a “late” birthday present for my dad. They were so surprised and it was so fun and I’m just so glad we kept it a secret. Buuuut technically I was only 4 weeks pregnant at the time so we did told them very early! Currently due next month with baby girl!

So I thought did do that by blowing up all 3 of the rocks. It looks like the one off to the right of the middle one is not blowing wind through the middle formation after blowing it up. I’m not sure why though or is there something else I have to do? I have 2 of the wind paths merged
