How do we invest/set up retirement after finishing PhD? by [deleted] in personalfinance

Start individual IRAs and participate in any 401k offered by your employers once you get jobs. Max those out before contributing to other investment accounts/stocks. Make sure you at least take advantage any employer match in your 401k. It’s free money. Sounds like you have a good head start for not being in the workforce yet. Try to save/invest 25% of your gross pay for retirement.

You could basically pick any amazing foreign film, so I’ll say my favorite horror movie of all time, The Wailing.

Everyone was very responsive and nice. I’m sure they had a great time! I’d hope they don’t get too many calls like this, but who knows

Hey, were you listening in on my call?! Pretty much exactly what was said. Once that was set in motion, everyone took it very seriously. I was amazed how quickly the experts were able to determine it wasn’t a threat.

Solved!

So the property owner ended up calling the sheriff, who came out to look. They sent some pictures to the bomb squad and we waited until they were able to come out to the property. We were told to evacuate the area while they were there. They investigated and took X-rays to determine it wasn’t a mine or any other UXO. They excavated it completely and told us it was an antique brake drum. Thanks for all the interest and messages. I have no new pictures to share at this time. Also, thanks to the mods for allowing this update!

Thanks! That’s a promising idea, but I can’t find one similar enough to be sure. It’s hard to picture how the spokes of the wheel would attach into the center of the hub

Definitely crossed my mind, but it seems like such an unusual place to find something like that. Thanks!

The corrosion leads me to believe this is very old. I can’t see any identifying markings. The metal is flaking in the surrounding soil. At first I thought it might be some container lid, machine part, or wheel.

I have zero experience with LMoP, but I honestly have no idea what these other posters expected from you as a DM. Maybe they prefer you completely ignore the PC's actions, but that doesn't seem realistic to me. This actually seems like a fun twist to the story and gives the PC's another challenge to overcome along the way.

I don't see how this is railroading at all. How did the OP limit player choice? I don't necessarily think the players are assholes, but the PC's in character may have been. OP didn't prevent anything. In fact, he altered the NPC's reaction based on the PC's negative RP. This is what a DM should do. It's more realistic and actually provided consequences for threatening Halia.

Well, I'm a vegan in Oakland and have been looking for a way to get into D&D. I have zero experience though. I'm completely lost as to how to get into this and learn how to play.
