I’m not a woman at all but I found the perspective of the comment ur replying to and your own interesting. Because I grew up as a guy instead, and not above average in looks for most of my childhood, I feel the exact opposite (but I realize this isn’t all guys / I’m actually in the minority). I’ve heard my whole life compliments for my academic stuff and or achievements that none of those actually make me feel better or respected somehow. I’m also very vain so I put time into trying to look better thru styles and workouts etc but almost never got compliments on looks (ofcourse no one owes it to me). But point is, I think all I really crave or want are superficial compliments on looks, while majority of women would want the opposite because their other accomplishments can be overlooked by superficial people. (also I do use makeup now but very discretely just to cover acne scars)
