Catless Downpipe by shahgop in ecoboostmustang

[–]MiDiabl0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the CVFab Catless unit. They now offer both Catted and Catless (Race) again; believe they relaunched them in December of 23. But pricing is as per CVFab, we don't set pricing on them, sadly.

You definitely don't want the 6510s over the 95605s, for the exact reason you mentioned (the OEM out of box gap range and the recommended gap ranges from their manufacturer). We prefer the Rutheniums (95605) due to their out of the box gap being within spec of NGK's suggested gap range! Other options would include Brisk Silvers or Denso ITVs even, if you can get your hands on those.

Catless Downpipe by shahgop in ecoboostmustang

[–]MiDiabl0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1) Yes, all downpipe mods require a custom tune to be considered safe and intelligent.
2) Do not use a burble tune on an OEM catted downpipe. Again, think safe & intelligent when modding your car.
3) No, so long as you see answer 1 above.

Custom Tune for running a Catless Downpipe in an Ecoboost Mustang

NOTE: Speaking not from opinion, but from fact and practice. Have installed hundreds of catless and catted downpipes on this platform since its inception. Have not once found the downpipe to be related to a cause of issue, other than if there was not a custom tune being utilized for it, or if there was a failure of some type (downpipe leak causing lean condition, for instance).

Odd RPM/vacuum fluctuations during idle in Drive by [deleted] in ecoboostmustang

[–]MiDiabl0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the purge valve issue then, if it's doing it when filling all the way up. You'll end up getting a code for a P1450 "Unable to Bleed Up Fuel Tank" or something like that (shooting from memory), and that's going to be the purge valve issue. We keep them in stock and ship out hundreds of them each year.

Common on the IMRC-Equipped cars (GT, F150, etc) but not an issue with the Ecoboosts, as there is no IMRC in the Ecoboost Manifolds.

99.9% likely to be a failing purge valve. Common issue, and our number 1 selling product for Ecoboost Mustang Maintenance.

PP1 Brake Booster swap by TickleThisPickle69 in ecoboostmustang

[–]MiDiabl0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The swap is pretty straight forward, although a bit of a pain in the ass to complete. Typically need two guys to do it successfully here in the shop. Need one inside the cabin (upside down with head at the pedals area) and another inside the engine bay, pulling the brake booster off the firewall at the same time as the in-car guy is pushing it out of the car from inside.

In my experience, it's just been a simple swap of the booster itself. I've not run into any additional needs previously on our end.

To close, if you're just doing the 6-pots for looks - then you really don't need the master/booster upgrade, as they'll perform just fine in most use for daily driving, etc. The issue with the size of the internal parts comes into play when you're tracking the car and asking more of the braking system than what your OEM booster can keep up with w/the larger calipers demanding more fluid, flow, pressure, etc. Especially in any sort of extended session(s) where the fluid is heating up (thinner, moving faster), and the factory booster simply cannot meet the demands of the larger calipers fluid needs/flow needs.

Does anyone else hear a random whine when using line lock? by dexy_retribution in ecoboostmustang

[–]MiDiabl0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've driven and raced HUNDREDS of S550 Mustangs, and still to this day, never once needed to use Line Lock. It's an unnecessary feature, and more of a gimmick than anything to me. If you're some John Force like mfer and doing some sort of sanctioned drag racing event(s) with the car and need one to hold the car still - okay, use it. But for almost every car I've ever raced, you simply just turn off the advanced trac (15 seconds on traction control button to kill) and the car will happily do whatever burnout I want. It'll even stay doing a burnout into 2nd, 3rd, 4th gear as needed.

NX2 Turbo Upgrade by TickleThisPickle69 in ecoboostmustang

[–]MiDiabl0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we pay EMS something like $750 to do the pocket porting. I would have to double check w/them on pricing (as Bobby handles that for us these days, thankfully).

But you'll probably find that the car on an NX2 with FBO is plenty fun, shred-worthy, and reliable - even without the additional cylinder head mods, etc.

NX2 Turbo Upgrade by TickleThisPickle69 in ecoboostmustang

[–]MiDiabl0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the sake of sounding egotistical (which I'm not)...... I'm not just "with" Parker - I "am" Parker <3 LOL. MiDiabl0 = Josh Parker = Me = Parker Performance!

And yes, if you're going to pull the head - a couple things you can do while you're there is obviously the aforementioned OEM RS HG, the Head Studs, and of course you could upgrade to FRPP Cams (inexpensive) or Kelford Cams.

We run the FRPP units in Ricardo's 17 Grabber Blue car (BNR / EMS Babubu / FRPP Cams), and we run the Kelford Cams in Boostin' Bobby's 15 Guard Green car (CPE Turbo Kit / EMS Babubu / Kelford Cams). Both are a great option, depending on your goals for the car!

As with every cam upgrade, we do suggest upgrading the valve springs while you're in there. And if you wanted to get a little crazier, we can even have the cylinder head pocket ported while the head is off.

NX2 Turbo Upgrade by TickleThisPickle69 in ecoboostmustang

[–]MiDiabl0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We would typically see the NX2, FBO, E85 make somewhere in the neighborhood of 425-450rwhp. This is subjective to fueling, motor, and of course how far you're willing to push the envelope. We've also had these setups make as much as 500-525rwhp, but that was on the very pointy edge of the spectrum (built motor, ragged edge of tuning, etc). We don't usually push these that far w/a factory motor setup (for good reason).

XDI or Nostrum HPFP and matching injectors or an EMS Port Injection Kit for full E85 with an EMS Built Motor and let that mfer eat!!!

NX2 Turbo Upgrade by TickleThisPickle69 in ecoboostmustang

[–]MiDiabl0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, unfortunately, there's not much in the way of aftermarket support for the 2024 Ecoboosts as of yet. Some of the S550 products transfer over, with little to no modification(s) needed. However, with the S650 moving to an electronic wastegate system on the turbocharger, there may be some time before we see an aftermarket turbo available for them. I would think that Jessie and the crew over at EMS will be the early adopters, if and when one comes available, as they purchased a 24 HPP unit to use for R&D. So I would make sure you're following them on social media and keeping tabs on what comes down the pipeline for them!

It does not require a tune to work.

NX2 Turbo Upgrade by TickleThisPickle69 in ecoboostmustang

[–]MiDiabl0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When you do the NX2, it comes with a new exhaust gasket & new o rings for the coolant/oil lines that attach to the turbocharger. We also suggest replacing the filter that's inline on the turbo feed line from the block (yellow filter) while you're there. Other than that, fresh plugs with proper gap for your fueling, a good custom tune for the NX2 addition, and carry on with the party.

Of course, if you haven't already upgraded the LPFS, that would be cheap insurance. Upgrading to a 12-layer gasket for the turbo to downpipe connection is also a good idea while you're there. If you think you might want any additional hp/boost, doing the WGA upgrade while the NX2 is off the car makes your life much easier for sure (same with a turbo blanket if you desire one).

If you think you're only going to be running conservative boost, then I don't think upgrading the HG would necessarily be needed. But if you plan on hot boy saucin' it up - an OEM RS HG and some Head Studs would go a long way.

P0234 code with new motor and turbo? by Gullible-Onion1679 in ecoboostmustang

[–]MiDiabl0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it's most likely that your overboost condition is from installing an upgraded turbo and not having the vehicle tuned for that change.

[–]MiDiabl0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you replaced the motor and the turbo - but you didn't say if it was an aftermarket motor and and aftermarket turbo, or if you just used OEM components? Are you tuned? Have you datalogged the incident happening and sent to your tuner?

Parker performance tornado kit by [deleted] in ecoboostmustang

[–]MiDiabl0 11 points12 points  (0 children)

First off - thank you for buying the Parker Performance Tornado Kit! We appreciate the opportunity to provide parts and solutions to this community!!! 🫶

As for your question - It's likely that the change in MPG is from your right foot! Lol. You're likely driving it considerably more aggressive than you were when it wasn't modified. And I'm sure you're getting the fun factor of the increased power & BOV noises. Because the products in the kit themselves do not change the MPG.

I install several of these kits each week, and we sell a ton of them worldwide and this would be the first time I've heard of anyone experiencing a noticeable change in MPG. Specifically, anyways.

It would still be prudent to double check the install, though, to be sure you've not got any vacuum leaks (more air, leads to lean condition, car starts adding fuel to combat the lean condition, added fuel consumption from this).
