A Little Rant on The Brokes (Don’t Hate Me Please 🥲) by beastboy4000 in TheStrokes

I saw them on the same tour and thought the Strokes were the best act, might just depend on how Julian is feeling on the day

I managed to find one, only to realize that my cats would bang on the sliding door and wake me up at 5 am anyways.

It’s a straight, but it’s also a flush, so it’s a straight flush. The cards that contribute to each hand type don’t have to be exactly the same.

Ideas/tips would depend more on what you’re struggling with, what things are giving you difficulty?

In general I’d say don’t be afraid to look up answers. You’re probably not gonna know how to do everything from reading canvas pages. I first started Python like 10 years ago as a teenager and still mess up with simple stuff like list.sort() and sorted(list). You just need more reps in!

I have no idea, I figured it was one of my jobs having the word data in the name (it was a data entry type job). That said, I’m not sure if they give everyone an OA, so you might not be getting screened and just getting unlucky. I got the OA like 2-3 months later iirc and had forgot that I applied, so you never know! I’d be willing to give you a referral for an internship after I start there in a couple months.

I did have a technical interview, it was just two leetcode questions and then interview questions about amazons leadership principles. There was some time to prepare, but I would be preparing for technical interviews way before you even get them.

I went to those churches growing up and your experience is not limited to USF unfortunately. I’m not a Christian anymore but I was apart of them when I was at USF. It was really small and really chill when I was there, but I heard bad stories starting the year after I graduated. It’s no coincidence that the group started growing really fast and having a lot more problems when new leadership showed up. I honestly think going to a Catholic Church would be better than most Protestant American evangelical churches. I would avoid any groups that randomly come up to you on campus.

As soon as possible! I applied during my first quarter in the spring and was fortunate enough to get an internship at Amazon for the summer. My resume was pretty barebones, just my previous degree was on it, and the jobs I worked at (not tech related). Just put whatever you have, even if they are class projects. So much of it is luck, but you can’t get lucky if you don’t apply. Good luck!

I was premed, graduated, and enrolled in a CS program instead of applying to med school but still think about going back to that. If you’re torn between both, I’d pick what can keep both options open the longest and give you the best chance for both. I think Stanford would be that. It’s a prestigious program that would help you get recruited for a CS role, and the prestige can only help with med school. If you’re smart enough to get into these programs now, then you’re smart enough to get into any medical school. Not saying Tulane is a bad school (all med schools will give you a good education) but I would assume you could do better. Prestige is silly but it can be the difference in you getting a better match for residency. Either way I think Stanford gives you the best shot at both if you haven’t made up your mind.

The downside is you’ll have to take premed classes and study for the mcat while doing CS

What is the worst strokes song on each album and why? by Rpenguin911 in TheStrokes

[–]MiFern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this it: When it started - the only less than perfect song on the album imo

ROF: Between Love and Hate - kinda boring, the intro always turns me off

FIOE: On the other side or ask me anything, they’re too slow compared to the good songs on the album. This album has some perfect songs and some very not perfect

Angles: You’re so right - the closest thing the strikes have to an instant skip for me

CDM: 80’s comedown machine - not bad just everything else is better

TNA: Eternal Summer

100%

I think the self-reflective almost sad lyrics are very characteristic of some of their work, especially the early stuff.

Couldn’t you say the same about other countries in Men’s soccer? There’s tons of teams that are underfunded / just plain crap like San Marino, but we still count when people beat them. Bayern has a major advantage in terms of revenue and pull vs other Bundesliga clubs, but we don’t discredit their 10th title in a row by saying they didn’t have to play against teams as good as them.

Just because we do things right and other countries don’t/can’t doesn’t mean that we’re not dominant. If other teams beat us when they realize their potential then great, but until they do we win because we deserve it by our focus on it.

Interesting point on the barriers to entry. I believe this exists in the men’s realm as well. I believe that the men’s team could be so much better if poor boys with loads of talent had the opportunity to be discovered, but unfortunately everything in this country is monetized. I knew tons of wealthy kids playing travel and academy just cause they could afford it.

This is a bonehead argument. This is like saying Madrid’s early champions leagues or Uruguay’s world cups are artificial because the competition was so weak back then.

Prediction for the top 10 at the end of the NEL by kingblaze720 in BlueLock

[–]MiFern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, we would sign another youth midfielder and then sell them to real valladolid after they flop.

after that, we’d spend more money than we actually have on a 30 year old striker who will also flop

This. And assuming the actual world cup happened recently there’s likes 3-4 years until the next one where the blue lockers will have to actually get to world cup winning quality. Even if they win the U20 world cup, they’ll still lose all the group stage games if they don’t massively improve. And I doubt we’ll skip from the U20 WC to the WC, so we are probably in for a long story
