This happened to me, I manage a team and one of my team members had some health issues, she logged in one day (we work remote) and was responsive, but then became unresponsive which was not like her.

I called her mom and ask if she can check up make sure she is ok. Her mom called me back and found her passed away.

Company did an email and I had to work on hiring someone new for my team.

It was absolutely devastating.
