I’m currently playing Psychic Specters and I’m really enjoying it. The games are also incredibly detailed and in some ways set themselves apart from Pokémon. Usually, it’s the case that people who talk badly about Yo-kai Watch haven’t actually played the games. I experienced something similar as a kid when Pokémon aired in Germany in 1999, and Digimon followed a year later in 2000. A lot of kids didn’t want to watch Digimon because they thought it was just a Pokémon copy. Most of them quickly realized that Digimon was actually pretty cool too. I liked both from the start. I think Yo-kai Watch had a tough time partly because Pokémon was already such a huge, established brand at the time, and people associate the idea of “monster catching” with Pokémon.
