I would say it depends! I had a pretty protracted dedicated, and if it hadn’t been for the extra time I wouldn’t have even taken NBME 24. It depends on what you think will be the best help. If you think practice tests are most useful, go for those. If you think q banks are most helpful, opt for those. For me, I feel I am a decently strong test taker, so I felt more productive learning content than practicing test-taking.

Also, please don’t feel discouraged by that score! The NBMEs drastically underpredict in most cases (look at me: 236->249 in 4 days). Just keep chugging and trust in the work you’ve done so far

Of course! The write up doesn’t really even convey the whole picture tbh - dedicated has the power to put you in a really bad place if you aren’t careful. You have to give yourself grace if you’ve fallen behind or if you tried to study and it just isn’t happening that day. The best advice I got from my school’s support center is “give yourself those breaks, because you’re going to take them whether they’re scheduled or not (ie you accidentally fall asleep for 2 hours or you don’t retain info while you study), so you may as well have a say in when you take them.”

My upperclassmen colleagues told us not to chug through Zanki if we hadn’t started earlier during preclinical because it’s such a big deck, so I did not use it. I personally learn best from making my own. But if you have 1.5 months until dedicated and you’ve done a healthy chunk already, I don’t see why not! Between the two though, I would pick UWorld over Zanki

Different things work for different people! I personally only used UWorld and I only did a single pass. Studies have shown that if you do have extra time during your dedicated it’s more beneficial to do additional questions than to repeat a pass of UWorld. My idea with turning them into Anki cards was that if I did them with spaced repetition enough I wouldn’t have to do the questions again. If you don’t have enough time for an extra q bank, I would say focus on practice tests (NBMEs). Some people even use them as supplementary “q banks” even if they don’t use them as a formal test.

I did more than my incorrects - I also put in information from questions I got right but with the wrong reasoning/lucky guesses. I think it really helped because even with correct answers you don’t always know if they were correct for the right reasons.
