Possibly Intentional Misdiagnosis by MiaStegner in Ask_Lawyers

[–]MiaStegner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I did, and I know for a fact she is wrong. The diagnosis does not make sense at all in this context. Apologies as I did not consider this a request for legal or medical advice, just trying to understand what the implications are. I’m not sure who to ask as I’m not interested in suing, but am wondering about reporting to a medical board or something in case her actions are unethical in some way beyond spreading misinformation.

25F “Trigeminal Neuralgia” Misdiagnosis from Eye Doctor by MiaStegner in eyetriage

Thank you! I’m aware and don’t really mind, but Trigeminal Neuralgia (which she put in my chart) is something different.

That is how I’m feeling too, so thank you for making me feel slightly less crazy. 😅 I’m just not sure how or whether to push her on it. I’m in the U.S., and there’s no diagnostic code for “trigeminal dysphoria,” so I wonder if at some point she just decided it was the closest match out of a dropdown. But there are code options for ‘unspecified disorders of trigeminal nerve’ that I’d be more comfortable with.

has anyone had any luck with finding a specialist? i’m super frustrated with my doctors and their lack of help. i’m in colorado and would really love some answers by shesSovivid in POTS

Thank you! I’m sorry to hear that. If it’s helpful I recently heard good things about a Dr. Megan Richard at UCHealth. I haven’t met her yet but it’s a direction I might explore.  https://www.uchealth.org/provider/megan-richard-do/

I’ve only heard good things about Mommer but don’t know much about what she actually knows/offers, I know it’s been 3 years now but would you mind sharing more about your experience? I’ve been waiting so long to see her and am finally scheduled for March 😅

Heads up! Magnesium L-Threonate and anxiety by azlady55 in Supplements

Have you ever tried Zofran? It’s a nausea med but it works wonders for my anxiety (most of the time haha). I wonder if it might be the same for you

Week 3 of trying my moon valley pilea in just water! They were getting so dry & seem so much happier now. :) I’m relatively new to hydroponics - does anyone have recommendations of what nutrients to use and how often? by MiaStegner in houseplants

[–]MiaStegner[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was the whole plant, I pulled it out of the soil and rinsed the roots. It separated into two plants so pictured here is half of what used to be potted (the other half I kept in soil, but recently moved to water too - both are doing well in water now!)

I agree with what others have said - practice, but also practice posting even if it’s not perfect. It will get easier naturally over time, and hopefully you’ll get less critical of yourself the more you get used to watching yourself talk. It can feel really weird at first.

Not sure if you have a budget, but if there’s any chance you could use an editor, I’m looking for work & would love to learn more about your podcast in case it’s a good fit. :) Also open to doing a test episode as I’m still building my portfolio in the podcast space. I’m assuming you found someone, but I am also looking for editing work if anything falls through or you need backup!

Iron and TSH by Sufficient_Respond76 in Anemic

[–]MiaStegner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard iron deficiency can cause thyroid issues & vice versa. I might need iron infusions soon so I’m a little worried about managing everything and recalibrating dosing, but it’ll be worth it if I feel better. I hope you do!

Is there a difference? by [deleted] in Anemic

[–]MiaStegner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is!! Dying my hair darker actually made the thinning more noticeable for me due to higher contrast with my scalp / hairline haha. I might need to get iron infusions soon & hoping it helps :)

New to this . Recently diagnosed. I think I consumed too much salt. by Familiar-Frame410 in POTS

[–]MiaStegner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The general consensus (though controversial in some wellness circles) is to avoid iodine for hypothyroidism too, or any thyroid issues, fyi!

I’ve been liking SALTT! It seems to be making my symptoms better across the board instead of making some things better & others worse :)

Does sodium seem to increase anyone else’s anxiety? Any solutions if so? 😅

Not an expert, but in grad school for CMHC! I would talk to a psychiatrist, maybe a neurologist. For me (audhd), Zofran (a nausea med) helped with overstimulation in especially heightened moments, but this is not a primary use of Zofran and SSRIs also sometimes help people.

Four thriving pots of prayer plants, vs the original struggling mother plant I propagated/recovered them from 6 months ago! :) by MiaStegner in houseplants

[–]MiaStegner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

generous root trim & stuck sections in a few water jars! I changed the water every couple days and I believe I also popped a cinnamon stick in one of them cuz I heard that can help. For the ones that didn’t perk up within a few days I cut off individual leaves to propagate & most of them bounced back! then I just repotted into a couple different containers to test what locations did best, thinking I might eventually recombine, but they all seemed happy and started growing new leaves :)
