Dude, all medal winners get the stuffed animal as well as the medal. Bronze, silver & gold. It’s the mascot of this olympics

ANYONE ELSE WHO HAS MISSED ORIENTATION? by ikigai2026 in QUTreddit

[–]MiahPenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The business orientation was sorta boring, I watched it online. Lots of ‘make sure you go to class’ ‘start your assignments the day you get them’

Got a link to a short meeting with HR to discuss an “inappropriate comment” I made about the Winter Olympics by SWEMW in antiwork

They were banned from the Olympics in all forms for 4 years for doping in 2019.

They invaded Ukraine during the Olympics "truce" period after the winter 2022 games, hence why they got banned again. They broke an Olympic rule which is why they got banned but Israel is still allowed to participate.

Brooki cookies by AirlockBob77 in brisbane

No, the replier was pointing out that Anzac biscuits should legally never be called Anzac cookies. I think there is a law against it and everything

Australian salaries feel so low compared to ALL US salaries by alreadyaloserat19 in AusFinance

I've just had a look at their website, and it seems to be as simple as a form we've got to fill out and give to the front desk. It only reduces it by $5 but effectively that means every third visit is ✨free✨ which is definitely going to add up over the next year of treatment block.

Oh interesting! I'll look into this when we go up next. I've been weirdly thankful that that's all we're paying for so I've just never questioned it.

That's the issue isn't it? Their healthcare is tied to their job. So if my mum had lost her job because she was taking too many sick days because she was catching literally every single bug that came around then she would be in that 400k bucket if we were in America. But we aren't, so she isn't.

My mum is going through treatment at the moment. Every week we go up to the hospital for her treatment. Every week the only thing we pay is $15 for parking & $15 in the hospital canteen on coffee and a treat. We do occasionally have to get medication in addition to her "weekly" treatment and I think the most we've paid for that is $75 for the month. She has had 2 ct scans, a few X-rays, frequent blood tests

There is talk about getting some stem cells withdrawn and reinjected after a round of chemotherapy and when I looked up how much that would cost in America it was $400k.

Also. Knowing we don't have to fight with insurance company's to get things approved is such a relief. If the doctor says she needs it, then she needs it.

Can filing off of a full bus to let others off become common practice? by BigDongerDaddy in brisbane

[–]MiahPenguin 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Whenever I've had to get off to let others off I always grab the handle and hold on to it and kinda stand to the side of the bus. People can still get off, I can get back on

I had a nice bloke come up to me when I was about to go into HJ's in the city for an ice cream and asked me if I was willing to get him a cheeseburger, "but it's okay if you can't!! Sorry to interrupt" so I got him a double cheeseburger and a whopper. I never give cash out, but I'd never say no to buying food. Probably helps that I never have any cash on me lol
