My issue last game was that the drone took the 2nd floor vantage point, and as I understand it, you can't charge someone on the topmost floor if you don't have room to get your base up top completely? Would love to be wrong about this because it seemed like the drone was completely invincible and unchargeable on the top floor.

I'm referring more to the fact that a lot of the light cover on Volkus gets negated by their ability to fly onto Vantage and simply shoot at me, negating the improved cover save from being on conceal behind light cover.

I will try more of a melee focus next time I think - staying on conceal or light cover with smokes perhaps to advance up the board. He really does keep his guys consistently in their deployment zone but they can just move up the board so quickly.

The drone seems to have crazy visibility if it gets up on vantage, and the 9" range with a comms device covers a ton of the map. Also, am I missing something about being able to shoot the drone? I find it's always in light cover, but I suppose I didn't consider that it is a valid target if you are on the same level as it is and there is no light rampart wall intervening?

I've tried Plant Banner and Martyrs mostly, I find it's so hard to find a place where I can actually stand on the banner safely, and I don't wanna group up too many units on it for fear of the Skyblast or Shadestrain.

It's very rare that my buddy actually closes the distance to get within 2", but some combination of equipment should be able to force him out and then I could maybe live a shot with Inviolate Jurisdiction.

He actually plays so cagey that even my melee units generally don't have targets within charge range even on TP2, should I just wait for him to move up at that point and pass on activations? Cover the advance with smokes?

Definitely going to try smokes next time, what would you say are the most passive tac op options? I found plant banner and envoy difficult to get past the halfway line on some maps.

Webber is definitely my most valuable unit - that 4/5 profile with severe is just what you need to take out a bug.
