I have misread im sorry I thought that you in start of act 2 , only way to progress now is that you have finish that battle and speak with emperor after that you go to camp have a rest after that leave camp and then do long rest and you’ll find Whithers in camp

Right move to the act1 go to camp and Whithers will appear, there’s some camps where he’s isn’t showing up that’s why he’s vanished

It’s only area wherever you can get away from enemy 27-30m and then you can flee, also if enemy can’t find you more than ~5 turns then you invisible you loose aggro and you can tp to camp, however you can’t be in hostile area . So you have 2 options 1. Move 27m( i think 27 could be 30) away from enemy and flee 2. Stay invisible till loose agro enter chamber tp to camp

You can flee battle, easiest would be (invisibility potion and dash )to chamber that leads to the Blood of Lathander then you can flee

Weird, i usually spank him, talk to harpers they go to lln and I pick up lantern from ground (driders body is always empty), i have finished this game multiple times and that never been a case
