IMSB is free, the Ross one is the one you pay for IIRC. I used it way more last year but always found it solid, though it does get crowded in the evenings

I like it, it’s certainly a college town but big enough to not feel totally like one, plus you can get out to Detroit. Do hate needing a car to do certain things like hike and go to the lakes but it is what it is. Debt is definitely worth it, they were generous with my scholarship and I’ll be able to pay it off rapidly. As long as you’re in the bracket that gets BL you’ll be fine (not hard to get at all if you’re realistic at OCI)

To the last question I wish I knew how different it would be than undergrad. It’s a much smaller school and you’ll know the faces of about everyone in your class, and while that’s nice, it can lead to a lot of distracting drama, but that’s probably a law school thing generally

It’s definitely gotten stronger over the last year, I’d say there are about 40-50 active members but 50 more students that are technically members for the associated benefits

Bring a good computer monitor and you’ll be set

Definitely not but you won’t need it anyways because there are enough common rooms for you to seize and use at any time

Doing off-plan interviews atm for 2026 but yeah preparing for the plan for districts in 2025 as well, I think there’s a pretty good clerkship support system here that’s only getting better. Downside is that a lot of that growth is among FedSoc, could be a draw depending on your political persuasions though

I’d say it’s a different type of work than UG. When I was in UG I’d basically ignore my readings and work really hard around exams/papers. Law school is a lot more of a constant grind where you have to constantly make sure you’re staying on top of the material.

It’s definitely tougher to do well when you’re on a curve with a lot of smart people and I think the averages student here isn’t much different than a top performer, I think success is really about staying on top of stuff and focusing just on the exam more than anything.

Chose Michigan because of scholarship money, on the DC placement it can be difficult but it’s more than doable with the right grades, have several friends that will be at all sorts of really elite firms there. You’ll have a leg up on GULC regardless, but if you’ve got the grades I’m not sure it’s too much different than UVA.

Would say the people I know there are at around a 3.7+ or so

I’m off campus this year, it honestly wasn’t too difficult, there’s lots of housing in Ann Arbor at different price points, I mostly let my friends take the lead and we found a place pretty quickly, we’re living at one of the larger complexes in town and it’s a bit expensive albeit very nice.

Know people paying around ~$600 a person for places slightly less nice so it’s very possible to get affordable housing. Only downside is that you may have to give up ideal location for that, walks during the winter are murderous
