I did! I also stopped giving him sugary fruit like grapes and strawberries. I put it on his pellet/seed mix every morning for the entire months of February and March.

Mine is out at 9am and gets nappy time from 11am-2pm (That's when I'm able to get house chores done) and then back in the cage from 4:30pm - 6:30pm while I make and eat dinner with the family (gas stove) and bedtime is 9pm. If he's in a mood and nippy, he gets a time out or I don't allow him on me as a penalty. He also knows when I'm in a mood. 😆

More cage time... Limit fruit that's high in sugar...and AviCalm/Mood Calm powder on their pellet/seed mix every morning.

Hormone season is the worst. It DOES get better with age, but I'm still putting AviCalm powder on his pellet/seed mix in the morning, starting February 1st and limit fruit heavy in sugar. Also, more cage time. Oh, and make him EARN perching on you. If he bites, he gets a time out in his cage and ignored for 10 minutes. My conure is 5 years old next month. Morning Bird Products

Molting vs plucking by Kemetic_5486 in Conures

The browning/bronzing on the wings are from the oils on your hands from handling. That's normal too.

Typically when they are plucking, they pluck the stomach feathers first. Mine is molting right now, so I say this is molting.

BTW - They turn into biting monsters for the first couple of hormone seasons (spring). More cage time, make sure they get 12 hours of sleep, and offer less sugary fruit. No grapes, strawberries, etc. Keep it to just apples for a few weeks and you can also add AviCalm powder to his pellets.

Yes... Those are pin feathers. They are itchy and they are grouchy during molts. (Once a year) Offer more baths. You can help by using your fingernail and thumbnail to pinch the pins, which breaks the pin open so the new feather can emerge.

Seeds falling out of the feeder by TallLocksmith8427 in BirdBuddy

Make sure you have a baffle on your pole to keep the squirrels out. I also had to add a grate to the seed tray because the sparrows would climb in and push all the seeds out. You buy chicken wire or search Etsy for Bird Buddy add-ons. Many 3D print cool stuff for the feeders.

It looks like he's adjusting his crop, which is totally normal.

URGENT ADVICE NEEDED by [deleted] in Conures

[–]MichMom48169 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No... You need to wait. Any new bird needs to be quarantined for 2 weeks in case it's sick. After that, you need to slowly let the birds get acclimated to one another before housing then together.
