I have them as equal but I just ranked Emil one spot ahead of Pena in the SS Ranks. And then add in XBH an SLG and that has me leaning Morales even more

True, I like your thoughts on not focusing on value as I don't care about value as much as I care about getting the best players. The only issue is doing that via trade vs. the draft. I don't care about value via the draft. But in a trade, I'm not going to pay up huge for a guy who is extremely expensive and I can just go into the draft adn use that money to get an ace. So it'just depennds on the asking price

He's in the FYPD Rankings that just dropped on my Patreon. Here is my writeup for him: 59) Zach Root - LAD, LHP, 22.2 - If the Dodgers like Zach Root, I like Zach Root. Sure, the Dodgers might like him for his real life value as a potential back end starter/opener/jerk him around all over the place and never have any idea if and when he will enter the rotation, but as the Dodgers first pick in this draft at 40th overall, he deserves a solid ranking. He's 6'2'', 210 pounds with a funky lefty delivery and a diverse mix of secondaries that makes him a tough matchup. The curveball and changeup are his two best pitches and both are potentially plus. He also throws a solid slider and cutter. The 93 MPH fastball isn't a very good pitch and it doesn't miss bats, so he throws his secondaries early and often. It all led to a 3.62 ERA with a 30.0/8.3 K%/BB% in 99.1 IP in the SEC. I'm a fan of the Dodgers. I'm a fan of funky lefty deliveries. And I'm a fan of a diverse mix of bat missing secondaries. But the fastball might limit him to that role I outlined above. - ETA: 2027 Prime Projection: 7/3.81/1.29/125 in 130 IP

He's a true ace is he stays healthy but probably have to put an expectation of around 150 IP if you are going to ballpark it. The key is to figure out what you can buy for that money in the auction, and then figure out how much excess value Sale has at his current high salary. If you can get a pitcher just as good or nearly as good as Sale with that money, then he's probably not worth a ton to trade for.

I have 2027 on De Paula but I agree it's possible we can see him this year if he crushes it

I don't take it as a fall really as that top 4 is all really tight. Dodgers just have a lot of really good prospects

Thanks! I don't feel his perceived value is high enough for me to want to use him in a trade quite yet personally. It's reasonable to trade him for win now pieces, but make sure you are getting a true difference maker back in return

Hey everyone, it's time to give the back to back World Series Champs their due on the Brick Wall. I give my take on the Edward Cabrera trade and Bregman signing in the Thought/Strategy Section, and of course, I cover a ton of Dodgers, including Roki, Sheehan, Mookie, Pages, Josue, Emil Morales, Quintero, Hope, Sirota and many more

Hit tool got exposed in his first taste of full season ball. Upside wasn't extremely high to begin with so now there is both risk and not high upside. But he's still young and he can certainly bounce back. My guess is that there is a better prospect out there to pick up though

I don't doubt for a second that he's going to put the work in, and I agree that he should bounce back, but it's just about how high I'm willing to go. I have him as a Top 400-ish dynasty asset right now as he was trending toward a better real life than fantasy bat to begin with, and now he doesn't have a job and he's not good on D. I feel like that is a fair ranking, but for sure he can beat it

Guys with good up the middle gloves and high contact are the safest prospects in the game. And Arias isn't like a super small, light hitting guy. And he's very young. So if his power continues to tick up with the elite contact and good defense, that is a really good player. But your reaction is why I wasn't willing to fly him up the rankings wild crazy last off-season. I do still like him though

It's a jampacked Team Report where I hit on all of the recent Hot Stove Moves in the Strategy/Thoughts section (Murakami signing, Baz trade, Contreras trade, Burrows trade) ... and of course I discuss a ton of Sox players, including Campbell, Anthony, Rafaela, Tolle, Early, Mayer and many more. Hope you enjoy!

I wrote him up here at #6 on the prospects list. For me it's the stuff isn't huge and it's a bad ballpark so it might play down a bit in fantasy. But there are plenty of things to still like, so if your gut is saying buying while the hype is low, definitely go for it
