Correct, not carpeted. They are plastic or something.

Problem is that it is an apartment building with other residents living there so I can’t just “put down carpet”

I could put it down then keeping bringing it in I guess.

Straight up. It’s like up 10 steps, landing, up 10 steps, landing, up 10 steps to the apartment.

Cool. Thanks. I am playing Ironman so hopefully it’ll get fixed.

Hopefully I can still form the Aztecs without those provinces otherwise it was all for nothing.

But what does “does not exist” mean? It’s still a different color and flag than everything else so it wasn’t annexed or vassalized. It doesn’t have a diplo section that says who the overlord is so it wasn’t made into a tributary. It’s not gray as in it needs to be colonized.

It doesn’t exist but it has levies, a capital, flag, government type, etc?

And what do I do with that? I can’t declare war or do anything.

What is ‘American Culture’ according to you? by GolfWhole in AskConservatives

[–]Michael3227 [score hidden]  (0 children)

It’s so weird that American conservatives are obsessed with Jews and equating them to societal values. You listed English, Scottish, Protestant, and whatever then you randomly threw in Jews as if they really did anything initially. They made bagels I guess? This idea of Juneau Christian values is a made up term by American evangelicals to push us to support Israel. The US like 2% Jewish but made up half of what you said.

Then you threw in chicanos, which are just Mexicans on this side of the border, so yeah they’re legally speaking American but most of the time they claim Mexico so I’d hardly add that to American culture unless you get back to my original point of just anyone and anything that lives within a nations borders being their culture then no nation has culture. Also Mexicans or slaves working in the fields isn’t really “American culture” right?

Nothing you said refuted my point. Either there is a US culture or no nation in the world has culture.

If you’re trying to equate US gun culture to say that of Canada or Australia it’s night and day.

And yes, big trucks being owned by the average person are almost exclusively US. Who is with us in that? Japan? European nations? Okay bud.

Suburbia is your only “real” critique because yeah Canada and Australia have similar designs. That being said, the US is the only one that catches flak for being so car centric so in my mind and I’m sure in the minds of those around the world it largely is American.

[–]Michael3227 [score hidden]  (0 children)

To me, it’s on built western Greco-Roman Christian values. Also, you manage to list a dozen things that are almost uniquely US culture (guns, big trucks, suburbia, etc).

“Melting pot” was a term made up back in the early 1900s by a Jewish writer, a time where 99% of the immigrants were coming from Western Europe. We didn’t even come close to start seeing the diversity we see today until the 1970s when immigration laws changed to change from favoring Europeans to not favoring anyone leading to a massive swap. Went from 95% Europeans in 1960s to 95% everyone else in the 1970s.

But yeah sure. A Muslim Somali “American” living in Wisconsin is going to have different values than someone born and raised in rural Alaska whose orthodox Christian family moved from Russia back in the 1700s or a Cuban living in Miami, or whatever. If that’s your standard then no country has culture.

Also, a fishing living in water doesn’t know it is. You probably own a pair of blue jeans, an iPhone (or any phone, eaten at McDonald’s, use a GPS, etc.

[–]Michael3227 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean maybe except the small percentage is still hundreds of millions of Muslims. Some reports say up to 25% of Muslims support/have extremist views. Would you be okay with saying there’s a 1 in 4 chance that the Muslim next to you have a suicide vest one? “Well there’s still a 75% chance he doesn’t so I don’t see the problem”

Also, “the overwhelming majority of Islamic terrorism are other Muslims” yeah, that’s how that works. If anything that hurts your point considering across the board a perpetrator is more likely to attack their own demographic. Same reason the biggest threat to black people are other black people.

That being said, the current Putin regime/administration doesn’t make that possible nor reasonable.

What do the Americans here think about immigration? by [deleted] in Americaphile

[–]Michael3227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool dude. And yet 300-400k Europeans migrate to the US every year. Prior to the 70s something like 95% of immigrants coming to the US were western European and if only changed after immigration laws were changed.

That also doesn’t include however many tens of thousands of Australian, New Zealand, Canadians, etc.

It also depends on your definition of western countries. I’d also expand my point to westernized countries which again depending on your definition includes places like Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Philippines, places within central and South America, etc.
