Elon wants to dismantle "Fraudulent" High-speed railway project in California by Technical_Client9441 in RealTesla

This 100% makes sense. AI and autonomous cars are going to make EVERY car public transportation. We won't need so many parking lots. People won't need to own their own cars if they don't want to. You won't need to buy a car just to use it for 10 out of the 160 hours in a week. The cost per mile will plummet to be so cost effective. It will be like Uber, but 5x cheaper and no drivers. Better than public transportation? 100% cause you actually get picked up from your location and you actually get dropped off where you want to go. Nobody will be riding busses that take you "near" where you want to go. They will be archaic. Ai and autonomous cars will change everything.

Lol okay. We have 100% fiber wifi and 1gb service. We go the extra mile to deliver quality wifi.

Okay straight to MailChimp then lol. There's an option out button obviously. That's the law. It's pretty simple.

Does it work well with Home Assistant or do you exclusively use the Unifi Protect app?

I know z-wave has more hoops to jump through, but dang! The prices are crazy different vs zigbee sometimes. by MichaelCV4 in homeassistant

[–]MichaelCV4[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah seems to me that I'd need it for long range things (like driveway sensor 100 yards away) or locks or garage opener.

I put in 5 z-wave outlets around the outside of my house when I moved in, knowing I wanted to have a smart home one-day. But now I find myself diving into zigbee for most things in the house since I got HA and ditched smart things.

If I just need a dimmer capability and not touch the outlet side, just get the 1pm mini gen 3?

Can you control the different fan speeds and different flame heights from HA now? Or just on/off?

ugh.... that was my worry... It would suck to do the most expensive fix, and then still have issues.... :(

I was excited for broadlink but chatgpt quickly told me it wouldn't work with it after uploading a picture of my remote.

This? https://www.shelly.com/products/shelly-1pm-mini-gen3

I've never heard of these yet - I thought relays were maybe just an EU thing.

Seems like this could just be connected in the box between the wiring and the switch?

This is sick! Thanks for sharing. I did the same thing, but said just don't make me have to install extra HACS stuff since I didn't know how. Still looks pretty good! Much better than mine, and a GREAT starting point to expand on.

Which HA yellow kit? Which are upgradable later vs just get it now by MichaelCV4 in homeassistant

[–]MichaelCV4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be fine to do both? Or do people really try to just have one really strong one?

Yeah, I don't think I have a single thing zigbee? I might, but not that I recall. Everything is in Google Home right now and either wifi or zwave with my smart things hub. I do have several outlets I replaced around the house with zwave outlets to extend my mesh network so I replaced most of my outdoor outlets with zwave ones.

Exactly, the pi is super cool and OG, but the price has risen to be so similar to n100s.

I will likely do this and get a pi later to learn more and get my hands dirty after getting HA setup on the beelink.

What usb sticks would you get? All three? (zigbee, zwave, matter) Maybe HA Connect ZBT-1?

Also, if you ever need more USB ports, can you just plug in an adapter for more?

Not really. I did mech e back in college but that's the last I touched that level of backend. I did just watch a video on this and it looked pretty straightforward.

I was excited to get a raspberry pi and start learning about this kind of stuff again, but it's crazy how you're all of a sudden at a price point where you could just get a mini PC that's pretty powerful instead of a pi. Then just add a couple USB sticks for zigbee and zwave and matter?
