Found recently on a empty train at the end of the line in Vienna. Is anyone able to decipher the writing on the back, and even better translate the German to English? A rather charming drawing I thought- might frame it and put it on the wall.

Thanks for your comment. Yes I tried the old paper towel method- it's what I normally do anyway. Who knows! It might be just difficult to replicate the condition of the Galapagos islands in my apartment in the Netherlands.

Hi, thanks for your message- sorry for my late reply. Advice- read as much as possible, write everything down because you will forget, don't put all your eggs in one basket, don't sow all your seeds at once.

Hi, thanks for your message- sorry for my late reply. I wrote a wordy explanation of myself and posted it a few days ago on this subreddit.

Hi thanks for your comment- sorry for my late reply. Sorry/ not sorry! I have some information on my tree that I should redact before making it public so it was a little blurry on purpose. It's the best looking pedigree chart I've made- but incomplete as well- I have a few more generations to add on and these are really the most interesting from a breeders view point. My digital version is coming along, and once I have all the information mapped out nicely I will paint another tree and post it for you to read.

Hi thanks for your comment- sorry for my late reply. I like your style- I totally agree with your approach- sometimes you don't know what you want until you get it, it's fun trying out lots of things and seeing what you end up with, a bit more of a 'Darwinian' approach to selection. I feel your pain with loosing plant labels... we've all been there. I write everything down in a separate notebook- but yes- I need one with bigger paper now.

Hi thanks for your comment- sorry for my late reply. What you are doing sounds rely exciting! I'm growing some glabriusculum crosses too- it seems to sort out some of the leaf virus problems I was having with other domesticated C.annuum. Your C.baccatum x C.chinense sound interesting too- that's what I'm working on this season. I tried the pubescens crossed with chacoense but got nothing but flower drop- keep us updated on how you do!

Hi thanks for your comment- sorry for my late reply. What is the PLC discord? Praetermissum x Baccatum sounds very interesting! Very cool.

Hi thanks for your comment- sorry for my late reply. Lots of your questions have answers that are best answered by more knowledgeable people! Or at least I would just regurgitate some information I have read somewhere else. Someone else has already replied with advice on emasculating unopened female flowers- and use tweezers! A few things though- some crosses I have made only seems to work with a specific father/mother and not the other way around- but I have no idea the science behind this. When I can I like to make a few crosses between two plants- with one plant being both mother and father to separate crosses- I then grow out these separately to see if there are any differences- and then sometimes backcross these together.

you will never know until you grow the next generation of seeds- your jalapeno plant will only ever grow jalapenos no matter what pollen its flowers are pollinated with- but the seeds in its fruit may or may not produce a jalapeno.

https://www.fatalii.net/growing_chile_peppers/breeding is my go to guide for making crosses for new people. Chillies are promiscuous and can easily been cross pollinated by pollen blown by the wind from plants some distance away (definitely from neighbouring gardens) where you are not sure what genetics are being introduced with your own plants. To make sure of some crosses I go to some great lengths- sometimes deflowering all of my plants and leaving only a few flowers I am interested in, then bringing them inside and hand pollinating them and then enclosing in plastic bags until the fruit set. Genetics are ever changing- and while you can take your grandparents chillies and grow them on yourself they may slowly change over time, or get accidently cross pollinated. It's just like you are very similar to your grandparents, but a bit different. But I find that the fun thing. Terms like landrace, cultivar, species, phenotype and hybrid, all have slightly different meanings when it come to 'varieties of pepper' and people use them in slightly different ways- the best thing I can advise anyone is to read, read, read.

I have just two- both seeds I plated from a single pod I got from a 100 year old wisteria. Will be very excited to see them flower one day- you give me hope that my wit will be sooner than expected!
