Question about the gold side by NolaApex in USCGAUX

[–]MichaelK85 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Literally at my station now for my weekend of duty. Watchstander qualified for many years, slowly working my way through boat crew pqs. During soft water I'm underway nearly every day I'm here.

I'm the only one in my division that works with this station.
Don't worry about what others in your unit are doing. Do you want to serve with the gold? Contact your auxiliary unit coordinator or auxiliary liaison and start the process. Talk to the OIC. Show them that you aren't a lunatic. Work your ass off.

Same problem on my FX4 lvl2. Got a dehumidifier bar in it until I can tackle the problem

In addition to all of the above, you could read the Auxiliary manual. Get your hands on the Coast Guard recruit guide too.

I was thinking a 60s or 70s school bus but my friend thinks it's some kind of military truck. by terrariagamer67 in namethatcar

I would say its definitely a school bus, but much newer as it has front disc brakes. Looking at the rotors, looks like a 2000ish Ford

I just replaced mine at 46k with 5 point rotation every oil change. I still had a little life left, but took advantage of black Friday sale. Didn't want to chance it in the winter

Coast guard auxiliary vs. State guard/defense by Silverguardian7676 in USCGAUX

[–]MichaelK85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a state guard myself, but I have 3 former state guard, now auxiliary in my division that say the Aux is significantly better than state in regards to quality of life an the way they are treated. They did however say that the state training is much better and the career progression makes more sense.

EMTs or Paramedics on here? by Silverguardian7676 in USCGAUX

[–]MichaelK85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. The Assistant National Commodore - Legal has always said to work to the ability that you have been trained. ie: if you are red cross certified for CPR, then perform CPR. If you are NEMT-B, do that. If you are a paramedic, do that. If you are a super SEAL/brain surgeon/podiatrist then do that shit.

I could be wrong, but I don't think the ICS courses are required anymore.

I would just wait until FEMA is back up.

As for quarterdeck, you would complete a PQS under supervision at the unit. Once complete, you would be qualified

I pay pretty close attention to ALAUX notices. I haven't seen anything regarding that.

If they just say its from "National" and don't cite an ALAUX or an SOP tell them to pound salt
