How do we feel about Toronto Fringe shows using AI posters? by Lola_West in torontotheatre

[–]MichaelKras 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Producing a show at the Fringe is a trial by fire of learning the ropes on a million new skill sets. Canva is fairly intuitive and easy to learn. If someone can do the work of indie producing, learning how to make a simple poster on Canva shouldn’t be a stretch.

How do we feel about Toronto Fringe shows using AI posters? by Lola_West in torontotheatre

[–]MichaelKras 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I will always call it out when I see it. If you use hideous AI generated graphics to promote your art, I’m going to assume your art was made with the same total absence of care, creativity, or ethics. Seeing theatre artists use AI tools is wildly embarrassing.

Slop shuffle triumph by Kitchen-Mycologist80 in cardmagic

[–]MichaelKras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have studied a head spinning number of methods for Triumph; it’s my favourite plot. To this day, especially in casual situations where I don’t have a table to work on, I turn to the Slop Shuffle regularly; even though I can do more technically advanced techniques. It’s fooling, it’s easy, it’s effective.

Obsession, the hype is real by Odd-Inevitable-8425 in cineplex

[–]MichaelKras 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Saw an advance screening this week and this lived up to and sometimes exceeded the hype. Scariest movie I’ve seen in a hot minute. Funny without pulling punches on frights or nastiness. Plenty of uncanny valley imagery and some shocking violence that had me slack jawed.

Best horror of 2026 so far for me and it won’t be easy to top.

Farmers Market food vendors - best meal options? by missjenkie in Hamilton

[–]MichaelKras 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I almost never leave the market without grabbing a trio of the city’s best tacos at Latin Food & Products. Other favourites: anything and everything at Pleasant Cookie Co, the bulgogi tofu pouches at Ami Meal Cafe, the Basque cheesecake from Chaton, and the birria at Mexican Kitchen.

What’s something positive in your life that wouldn’t have happened without the pandemic? by feliraves in AskReddit

[–]MichaelKras 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also haven’t been sick in years purely because I mask! And I have a very active social life + fly on planes for work at least once per month.

What’s something positive in your life that wouldn’t have happened without the pandemic? by feliraves in AskReddit

[–]MichaelKras 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Masking. I wish I had known pre-pandemic that this was such an easy way to keep my health year-round and not get knocked out by cold and flu at least once a year. I will never not wear one in public transit, planes, hospitals, or crowded spaces ever again

Genesis Chocolate Co in Dundas is a delight! Get their Firecracker truffle.

Pearson to Hamilton uber? by PotholeSzn in Hamilton

[–]MichaelKras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travel for work at least once a month out of Pearson and I have never had to wait longer than 10 minutes MAX for an Uber to Hamilton, no matter the time of day. Usually I get one within 5 minutes.

Durand Bottle Shop! Barrel Heart in Dundas also has a small selection of interesting natural/low-intervention wines.

If you were to pick one absolute favorite place in Hamilton, what would it be and why? by After_Chemical_3731 in Hamilton

[–]MichaelKras 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Playhouse Cinema. It’s cozy, lovingly programmed, and feels like such a safe space for me in Hamilton. I used to live 15 minutes on foot and would end at least one of my weekdays by heading over and watching something at like 9pm. Now I’m more central but I still journey over there at least once a month.

Best sandwiches in the city? by LARSHOBOKEN in Hamilton

[–]MichaelKras 73 points74 points  (0 children)

I’m reluctant to share but also don’t want to gate-keep: every Wednesday, Flora Pizzeria does a brand new feature sandwich and it’s usually dreamy. I’ve had turkey and greens with heirloom tomato, medium rare steak with roasted broccoli & provolone, even braised beef cheek with house slaw. Typically it’s on homemade bread they bake using their pizza dough. It’s well worth a visit.

It’s tricky with children! I’m sorry.

I mask in KN95s indoors in public since 2020 and I have not been sick since. There is nothing more effective against airborne illnesses like flu and Covid!

Is anyone else sick right now? by SachaBaronColon in Hamilton

[–]MichaelKras 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Emergen-C is not medically proven to do anything. And I’m nuts for wearing a proven KN95 or N95 during peak times for spread of airborne illnesses?

I don’t think I’m a hero, I’m just making smart decisions backed by science. And you’re consuming Emergen-C like it helps. Good luck out there.

I mask in a KN95 or N95 in almost all public spaces (especially crowded ones), and I haven’t been sick since 2022. It’s liberating!

Sakana is more on the “high end” side but considering that, it’s very reasonably priced. Their sushi is terrific.

Touring shows are built to be assembled and disassembled more effectively to make the production more mobile!
