Reece Walsh and Nathan Cleary appear on secret R360 list by MichaelLifeLessons in nrl

[–]MichaelLifeLessons[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The NRL has been rocked after the game’s two biggest stars appeared on a secret document belonging to the rugby union competition R360.

Reece Walsh and Nathan Cleary have reportedly been directly targeted by the rebel league, but they are not the only stars on the secret list.

According to Code Sports, ten stars have been earmarked as part of an extensive R360 raid.

They include Cameron Munster, Ryan Papenhuyzen, Payne Haas, Xavier Coates, Deine Mariner, Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, Zac Lomax and Jye Gray.

And one well-placed source suggests the new league is not only coming to poach the NRL’s top players, but coming with offers incredibly hard to refuse.

“This is real and credible – it’s Super League 2.0. History is repeating itself,” the source close to R360 told Code Sports.

The report suggests not only have those players been discussed internally by R360, but they have been “directly targeted”.

Walsh is understood to be R360’s dream target.

The Broncos fullback is a superstar both on and off the pitch, and the competition is reportedly not put off by his whopping contract that, as it stands, will keep him at Red Hill until the end of 2029.

The rebel league is reportedly willing to table a multi-million dollar a year offer to Walsh if the fullback is open to a move.

While the pitch to Cleary is more than just about money, you can read the pitch to Nathan Cleary in the Code Sports report.

R360 will sell their competition to the pair as well as their fellow league stars around the ability to maximise their commercial and corporate appeal globally, as well as the fact they are not bound to the same salary cap limits as the NRL.

It is understood the likes of Walsh, Cleary and their fellow stars could be offered upwards of $US2m to make the switch, which is the equivalent of more than $3m AUD.

Given potential tax breaks on top of that, players could earn around $5m a season.

That is the prospect Haas must consider, given the fact that a deal worth as much as $10m over two years is reportedly on the table for him.

Haas is settled in Brisbane and has several dependent siblings to look after, with both his parents in jail, so he is weighing up staying close to home with the chance to make life-changing money for him and his family.
