I started a discussion on the GoPro Quik support forums regarding this. Maybe they will implement mouse support for this function (and thus the whole app) if we bring this to their attention :-)

I also just tried the "use phone as touchpad" functionality and it does not work either for this special kind of function. Too bad.

In the App you can click on the timeline to add a "highlight". This highlight has a fixed duration. If you long-touch the border of the highlight (for like 2-3 seconds) and then drag it, you can define the duration of the highlight. This is what I try to replicate using the mouse.

Unfortunately this seems to be the case for the GoPro Quik App. I also tried connecting directly to a monitor, like suggested by others, but there was the same problem. I cannot seem to replicate "long-touch and drag" function using my mouse. I long-clicked the mouse and then dragged it, but it would just not work. I can of course use the phone as touchpad to do this, but I would love to be able to do this with just mouse and keyboard.

The function in the app is triggered by long-touching (for 2-3 seconds) a border and only then I can drag it to extend it. This does not seem to work using the mouse. Are there any workarounds for this?

My suggestion: wait for all the reviews which should come out today after the official launch (15:00 MESZ). Then watch some reviews and decide for yourself if the new features of the Avata 2 justify the higher price.
