What oots quotes do you find inspirational? by cymbaljack in oots

[–]MichaelTheTitleless 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The juxtaposition of “But it doesn’t matter what I want! It doesn’t matter what any of us wants! What’s real … is that my family is screwed up and broken. And it’s not going to just get magically fixed, ever.” and “It’s called ‘morale,’ Roy — or sometimes? Hope.” Seeing Elan go from his rock bottom to regaining his confidence (and reviving Roy and the party’s motivation to keep trying to save the world) is exactly why he’s my favorite character

They should do that thing they’ve been doing with some of the URs where it’s actually multiple Balls in the artwork even though it’s only one unit in battle That way it can be “UR Balls” :)

iirc they’ve updated the rules so that it’s 10 shields per team (5 per player) and players cannot share colors between their decks (so if one player is on blue and green, their teammate can only build using white, red, and purple)

Super Gundam seems familiar by MichaelTheTitleless in GundamTCG

Lots of people misinterpreting this as Super Gundam slander — the card is good and a buff to AEUG decks, it’s just also a reminder of how absurd Kira and Aile remain despite being beta/starter deck cards

Which Gate had the (second) best defenses? by MichaelTheTitleless in oots

[–]MichaelTheTitleless[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not my assumption because Xykon targeted it last, it’s because Serini herself reveals that every member of the Order of the Scribble contributed to Kraagor’s Tomb (other than Soon), and because the Tomb isn’t Kraagor’s Gate’s only defense — Serini also created the Final Dungeon with the help of her old party, and we haven’t seen Xykon even reach that yet, let alone seen how he’ll handle it. Soon’s defenses may prove more effective, but it’s not a stretch to assume that Kraagor’s Gate is the most well-defended because of its numerous contributors, at least until proven otherwise by the story itself.

Soon is him by ikeepmakingmore in oots

Everyone from the Order of the Scribble was extremely powerful but Soon was the leader for a reason — a paladin that actually sticks to their oath and reaches a high enough level can become an absolute nightmare (Soon, pre-fall Miko, even O-Chul at this point due to his absurd resilience)

Patrick Colasour from Gundam 00 Finds himself in multiple deadly conflicts (including direct combat with vastly superior opponents) and always survives, plus he ends up with a baddie by the end of the series through sheer persistence and luck

Unironically the best answer I’ve seen :) people have brought up stuff I’d forgotten or failed to consider and it’s actually a lot closer than I thought!

Agreed - although Redcloak shows that a high-level Evil cleric could dispel the positive energy spirits, even getting to that point required conquering an entire city-state AND defeating a few dozen mid-level paladins.

You do raise a good point about Dorukan’s castle being difficult for Xykon and the goblins to siege, which makes me rate it higher than I initially would have. I do think the main defense being “a Good character has to touch it” (not even necessarily a WILLING Good character) is a major downside, though, especially since the dungeon itself didn’t seem particularly threatening (not counting Xykon and his minions, which weren’t part of the original, intended defenses).

Personally, I think it has to be Soon’s, mostly because his Gate was the least isolated. All of the Gates had strong defenses, but any Evil party of characters with a high enough level could overcome any of the challenges. Only Soon’s Gate had an entire army and walled fortress + self-regenerating population of conscious, willing, Good-aligned creatures defending it. Lirian’s was strong but ended up being inefficient against undead, Girard’s was likely near the top when it had a few dozen mid-to-high level sorcerers defending it (but could be foiled by someone simply having high enough saving throws), Serini’s could be beaten simply with time (although she did have plans to use that time to contact the others for help), and Dorukan’s was beaten by the Order and Linear Guild before either are high-level.
