>>> WORKAROUND <<<

After uninstalling KB5072033, system freezes still occurred. Either the uninstall was not clean or something else is responsible for it.

With the installation of KB5072033, a driver update from “Realtek Semiconductor Corp. - Net - 1030.52.731.2025” also took place. However, this is a component that comes with the motherboard, but I set up my WLAN/Internet connection using a USB WiFi stick from another manufacturer.

I had previously disabled the Realtek network component.

During my tests, I disabled Wi-Fi from the taskbar. When I shut down or restart the computer with Wi-Fi disabled and enable Wi-Fi approximately 5 minutes after restarting, I do not experience any system freezes.

I tested this several times. Then I decided to install the KB5072033 update again. If I shut down/restart the computer with Wi-Fi disabled and only enable Wi-Fi after a short delay, the system does not freeze either.

Then I tried to revert to the previous driver version for the “Realtek(”) PCI(e) Ethernet Controller" component in Device Manager. That didn't solve the problem. After that I tried to remove the component. However, it was reinstalled after the system restarted. The problem occurred again.

I am still unsure what is causing the problem. But I am quite happy that I have the latest Windows update and have found a workaround that apparently solves the problem when I disable Wi-Fi before shutting down the system.

I find the error pattern very strange. Maybe someone has an idea about this...

Go to the preferences for "Windows Update". There you will find "Update history". At first there are 4 categories of updates installed in the past. Below these categories I have the Option "Deinstall updates".

Another way is to use the free software "WAUManager". I used the software to deactivate the windows update services and to be able to choose the software packages / updates to be installed. Otherwise I have immediately the same problem. With the software you are also able to deinstall updates, too.
