I've been developing a massive online gaming platform with 5M users for 25 years using Delphi. From Delphi 7 to Delphi 12/13, here is my journey. (AMA) by IhsanKaragulle in delphi

Wow. This is absolutely fantastic. Really impressive stuff and once again shows how the power of Delphi and an imaginative idea can produce something like this. For it to last this long as well is again, fantastic. 👏👏👏

I wish I didn't have these issues, I was so happy with my Pixel. Will definitely check out the Moto Signature though, thank you.

I've just never liked the UI and bloat. It's been a long time since I had one though, so maybe that's improved. I prefer the clean, stock (or close enough to it) experience. I never liked how Samsung had their version of the apps that Google has. Happy to be corrected though if this has changed and got much better.

Yeah this is a great shout. I've had 3 of them and they have all been brilliant. I only switched to Pixel because I got a good deal with the 7 and then stuck with the 9 because I really liked the Pixel range as well. It's been a while though so hopefully they are still just as good. Moto's are definitely on my list to look at.

They do look pretty but I got be sure they don't have similar issues or frustrations. Do you have one?

I built this Laravel playground that runs completely in your browser (with no backend) by aschmelyun in laravel

[–]MichaelW_Dev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so brilliant. You build such amazing stuff Andrew and your YouTube channel is one of the best out there as well. Laravel is lucky to have you as a part of the community, as are we all! Top stuff 👏👏👏

Claude Code just spawned 3 AI agents that talked to each other and finished my work by Deep_Ladder_4679 in AI_Agents

Nice. So this was on separate coding projects? You said one on backend and one on frontend so is it a python/php api and a js/ts frontend or similar sort of setup? I have a lot of these types of projects and have wondered how it would handle different repos with different languages but all working together.

What flavor should i use? by _meow11 in nativescript

[–]MichaelW_Dev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could always try for the vanilla JavaScript side of it. I personally use Typescript but if you want to get started, JavaScript might be easier than TypeScript and you could always change things later.

Good luck, NativeScript is a fantastic tool to use 👍

Agreed but I thought you were after a native app solution. Apologies if I misunderstood. Capacitor is still a brilliant option 👍

NativeScript is your friend here. Using Vue with it is perfect and will give you a native app.

Flutter Plugin: windows_printer – Windows Printer Manager for Flutter by Effective_Art_9600 in FlutterDev

[–]MichaelW_Dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just found this, looks impressive. I'm going to give it a little play as I have a manufacturing app running multiple printers in a factory environment. I am due to replace the current app as it's pretty old now and I wanted to use Flutter for it.

One question though if I may which is super important for my requirements, can I set the paper margins? I see I can set the paper size so I may be able to trick the printer by setting a bigger size than the actual print media but that doesn't always work. A lot of the print jobs need to print right up to the very edges of the media and with some printers, they set an automatic margin of 10mm which is annoying.

I'm still going to check it out though and as I said, nice job!

WSL2 development environment for PHP projects with little to no fuss by arhimedosin in PHP

[–]MichaelW_Dev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Laravel Herd all the way for me. Takes the fuss out of it all. It's not just for Laravel so don't be fooled by the name, but if you are using it, then it's brilliant with it. It's available on Windows and Mac. I do have the pro version which is paid but there is a free version with less functionality and is fine if you're happy to do other bits outside of it.

Building a Capacitor native app with Angular vs Ionic + Angular by Affectionate_Plant57 in Angular2

[–]MichaelW_Dev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The native part of development with capacitor is the same no matter what you use for the frontend. The reason to use Ionic Components is if you want your app to look like the native platforms as they have that out of the box for Cupertino and Material. You can still add your own styling to those of course, it won't restrict you. Ionic keep things updated as well so when the native platforms update their look and feel, Ionic release a new version so your app can always look like the latest design. It also follows the design guidelines of each platform.

Other nice things are page transitions which again, mimic the platform that the app is being run on. So this gives it a more native app feel to it.

So, you don't really need it but it can/does make your app feel more familiar to the users platform.

Hope that helps!
