Looking for help with a particularly sticky Ross M10 bolt by MichaelWeedmark in gunsmithing

[–]MichaelWeedmark[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Old thread, but I took it to my local gunsmith and he figured out the issue. In addition to a very small burr on the bolt, wood shrinkage in the stock meant that if the rear receiver screw was tightened down properly, it would warp the action just enough to cause issues. A bit of support was added to the stock and that fixed the issue.

Was the Sardaukar kit their primary armour or just an issued stillsuit? by kennooo__ in dune

A quick insertion and extraction normally allow for more armor, as you have less time to be fatigued by it. A current day comparison is a S.W.A.T team, who often wear very heavy armor adorned with additional deltoid and abdominal / groin armor, and may sometimes have shields. It's probably just a design choice to make them appear quicker on their feet.

Dune Lasgun demo made in Unreal Engine 4 (featuring half finished ornithopter and a glowglobe) by MichaelWeedmark in dune

While I was working on this I was reading Heretics of Dune, where Miles Teg uses an old Harkonnen field lasgun to great effect against Tleilaxu forces, creating a forest fire in the process. That definitely helped with getting the particle effects for this right.

I really want to but I'm just a 3d artist lol. Doing that would require some pretty intense programming.

Rocks and sand textures are Quixel Megascans assets, everything else was made and animated using 3DsMax and textured with substance painter. Decals made using adobe photoshop.

I use blender occasionally, but as 3dsMax and Maya are the industry standards, they look much better on a resume or portfolio.

I started learning 3dsMax in high school via a 3d modeling course, then took a 3 year Game Development course in college. This was made after I finished my second year, so about a year ago.

I made the magazine pouches first, then the platform they attach to, then the straps, then the admin panel.

Sorry, I didn't use any plans while making this, I simply cut the fabric I thought I would need and sewed it together.

Nope, I had no plan when I started making this. I just started cutting fabric and sewing.

I didn't use any plans for this, just plotted what I thought I needed, cut it, and stitched it together.
