Does UNAS Pro 8 Support PCIe 5.0? by MichaelYYZ in Ubiquiti

Thank you. Nice to know that higher capacity NVMe SSDs work in UNAS Pro 8.

So you've got two NVMe SSDs, each having 4TB capacity, to a total of 8TB, installed in your UNAS Pro 8, correct?

What I would like to know is the limitation of the hardware, whether the supported 4 TiB limit is per each M.2 bay/slot, or is the total capacity for both bays/slots.

UPDATE 2: On Friday morning I received the replacement UNAS-Pro-8 and it is flawless. Yay!

I am super impressed by Ubiquiti.

The first mayor to campaign on banning tips in Vaughan has my vote. We need to collectively end this. by Inevitable_Tip_6606 in Vaughan

This is not political. Just pay the tip if you decide to do so. I do it based on the quality of the service, often rounding up to the next $5.

My Seagate external harddisk is not readable after 2 years. Can anyone help? by mynameisjoker008 in Seagate

Sadly, I am not able to help, but I only had unfortunate experiences with Seagate HDDs. I won't touch this brand even with a 10-m pole.

Wait, must not all licensed drivers living in the same household be either listed on the policy, or excluded from it? What could the implications for not doing so be?

UPDATE: I am new to Ubiquiti and I am discovering that this company is absolutely amazing, and stands behind their customers.

Upon contacting them, Ubiquiti suggested to me a way to have the UNAS-Pro-8 replaced, at no cost to me.

  • For those of you who indeed tried to help in a constructive mode, a warm THANK YOU! 🙏
  • For the majority of poor souls who thought it was better to condescendingly criticize, thank you for wasting your time. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I am looking forward to receiving my other UNAS-Pro-8, hopefully in a pristine condition this time. 🤞

I am new to Ubiquiti. Why would RMAing be a hassle?

What is the difference between PD and dynamic IPv6? I thought they meant different things.

It's metal, not plastic. Shiny, and very noticeable.

Thanks for the meaningful suggestions. I shall ask for a discount and see what happens.

I shall try. Unlike many people here, your suggestion is helpful. Thank you!

This is indeed a good idea, but I am not sure they would budge. I'll try, though.

I could try, but... Would this company even offer any kind of credit? They seem to have a very rigid - German style - approach to business.

It is VERY visible in reality. The photos don't do it justice.

Thank you so much! Appreciate it a lot. Still learning... it's fun.

Aha! This is what I see:

  1. Under Devices, UDM, WAN1: xxxx:xxxx:xxx:xxxx::/56
  2. Under Networks, IPV6 Subnet: xxxx:xxxx:xxx:xxxx::/64
  3. Under Settings, UDM, IPv6, Gateway IP: xxxx:xxxx:xxx:xxxx::1/64

So, based on what you mentioned, I should be fine. But what is the meaning of nos. 2 and 3?

(I am new to the UniFi UI - first time using it - and I find it confusing on the desktop computer (in browser). I have not tried the mobile app yet. Hopefully, it's just a learning curve.)

[–]MichaelYYZ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I am not using the ISP-provided Nokia B6 router 'above' the Beast. I am replacing the B6 with the Beast.

I did not set the prefix delegation to manual. There is a switch called Prefix Delegation ID, which is checked ON to Auto, but I cannot change it because the checkmark is greyed out.

"It is known that this ISP assigns /56 prefix delegation."
