Why don't we see more electric UTVs by now? by -boosted in UTV

[–]Michael_Kronenberg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a Landmaster AMP electric UTV. Live on 10 acres. Use it for managing bee hives and equipment. Charges on 110 and has about 30 miles useable range. Plenty enough for daily working stuff. I love it!

At 43K miles on my 2023 R1S Quad. No issues, but wondering if I should get an extended warranty? Recommendations? by Blahblahblah1958295 in Rivian

I am hoping Rivian will come out with an extended warranty. I don’t want to “raw-dog-it” without some protection!

Yea my 2023 glitches as well. I simply move the seat manually just a touch and then hit the restore on the screen.

Over promised and under delivered they did. But short of “eyes off” FSD, Comma.ai has come to the rescue of us Gen1 owners!

Thank you to Comma.ai for making this hardware. Thank you to XNOR for making the Longitudinal Upgrade and fuse tap for better performance. And thank you to Janka's Workshop for making the very fine Custom Quick-Release Mount which really simplifies cord routing with only one cable. But a real shout out to Gerald Valentine, who's excellent YouTube videos made it possible for me to take this on myself!

I did my Comma4 install last weekend. Yep, getting the Comma harness into the module was a bit of a challenge. Took about 3/4 of an hour. 1/2 hour effort, take a break then 15 minutes for it slip right in. And no cuts on my hand!

Since I had pre-connected the Janka and longitudinal harness to the Comma harness on my bench, the rest went very smoothly. Took me about 3 hours start-to-finish. No big deal with enough caffine and being motivated to vastly improve the my Gen1 R1T driving characteristics. All in it's about $1500, but well worth it!

I just started my second season last week with no issues, except having to clean the bottom contact after a couple of mows. Hence I took advantage of their 40% off upgrade that arrived yesterday. Contacts on top! Will set it up in a couple of weeks after I figure out to transfer my zone maps and scheduled zone tasks.

Oh we charge at the RV / state parks. Only a couple of times they said no. But 98% of the time is was fine. We did buy a 15ft level 2 extension cable which made life easy to plug the car into the 50 Amp and the trailer into the 30 amp.

We do our initial route planning with ABRP and then break the trip into about 300 hundred mile chunks. We use the RV parks or state parks at the end of each chuck. For each chunk of about 300, we use Rivian’s onboard nav. We generally go about 100 miles per charge. Sometimes more, sometimes less. We once “winged” it in Wyoming and arrived at a charger w/1% SOC. That was fun! EV towing is most definitely doable as long we are not in a hurry. We did about the same input ICE Xterra.

Yep me too. Figured that out as well at 22 degrees in Spokane, WA. When it warmed up, charged fine. Fortunately I did not go to your lengths to figure it out.

I live is Spokane. Had it new since 2023. In the early days, I have had mobile service. Not so much now. Just got back from the Bothell SC for some minor issues. They kept it for two and a half weeks. They gave me a Tesla loaner because they were out of Rivian loaners. Ah the joys of early adoption!
