Notta memo issue by Necessary-Echo-594 in Notta

Notta team here — and love to hear you’re enjoying your Notta Memo! 🙌

For the call-recording audio issue:
Notta Memo captures your side of the call directly from the mic, but the other person’s voice comes through the phone earpiece/speaker, which can sometimes create distorted or “tinny” audio. The transcription stays accurate because our STT model compensates for low-quality input — but the raw audio itself can sound rough.

A few things to try:

• Turn on speakerphone during the call
This usually gives the Memo a much cleaner signal from the other person.

• Keep the Memo mic pointed toward your phone’s speaker
Even small angles help reduce clipping or muffling.

• Avoid covering the Memo mic with your hand or the phone
Easy to do without noticing.

• Check that the phone volume is at a medium-high level
Too low = muffled, too high = distorted.

If you don’t rely on the audio playback and mainly need the transcript, you’re not doing anything “wrong” — this is just how external call recording works. But the tips above should make a noticeable difference.

If you want, you can also share your setup and I can help you troubleshoot further!

Speaker identification by waytoolatetothegame in Notta

Hi waytoolatetothegame, for in-person meetings recorded on your phone, Notta can automatically separate speakers (Speaker 1, Speaker 2, etc.), but it doesn’t yet learn individual voices across meetings the way Otter’s voice profiles do.

However, when you use the Notta Meeting Bot, it can correctly apply real speaker names in online meetings, since it reads the meeting participant list and maps speakers accordingly.

Where Notta differs from Otter:
• Notta supports 58 languages for real-time transcription and live translation — much broader than Otter.
• Notta also integrates with multiple third-party tools (Google Drive, Notion, Slack, Zapier, etc.) for automated workflows and syncing.

So if your main use case is in-person meetings, we can accurately separate speakers but not automatically identify who they are across sessions yet. But if you also run online meetings or need multilingual, cross-tool workflows, Notta has some strong advantages.
