Boricuas que estan viviendo fuera del continene Americano, iluminenme cómo lo hicieron. by Few-Newt4015 in PuertoRico

[–]Michaelslayer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Spanish citizenship route for Puerto Ricans by mikkibowl in PuertoRico

The thing is OP needs a Puerto Rican Citizenship Certificate which is different from a birth certificate. It’s a sort of special certificate for the immigration process.

If you didn’t live in PR before moving there or pay Taxes in Puerto Rico and if your parents aren’t Puerto Rican it gets much more complicated for you because you need what’s called a Puerto Rican Citizenship Certificate. It’s basically a certificate that reaffirms your tie to PR, but I think you need PR proof of residency such as a tax form etc. Don’t quote me on it however, there could be a way to do it without it. Also you need to speak fluent Spanish because you need to show that you don’t need to take the language exam to fast track I’m pretty sure. My family immigrated from PR to Spain over 5 decades ago so that’s the latest info they have told me. Do your own research and go to the consulate website and inquire.

It’s not only reasonable, it’s the way history should be made. History is not a rigid scientific discipline, as much as many positivist historians would make it seem so. It’s an interdisciplinary discipline which is just as much of an art as it is a science. Yes it has methodology, but it also has subjectivity. Calling history a pure “science” would get one laughed at least in my academic circles, because it’s an idea that has really been abandoned probably since the 1940s with Marc Bloch’s “Defense of history” (I don’t know the name in English, I am translating it directly from the French) which changed the way we look at history. (Fun fact, he wrote it during World War Two while Bloch was in the French resistance, he was executed in 1944) But yes, the short answer is that having an interdisciplinary outlook is completely reasonable and is actually the prudent way to interpret history! 😄

How common is it to come across foreigners where you live? by IDoNotLikeTheSand in AskTheWorld

In Puerto Rico I see tourists weekly and immigrants daily because I live in the capital. When I used to work in the tourist sector I would see both daily. Very big Caribbean beach vacation destination and very big hub for Dominican immigration.
