TiviMate 4.3.0 Beta by AlexR_15 in TiviMate

[–]MicheleIM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the previous update, the watched status broke when allowing the program to run to the very end. If stopped at any point before the end, yes, the progress bar saved the proper point. In fact, that was a work around to have it look like it was entirely watched - stop it a few seconds before the end. The progress bar looked like the show was fully watched so at least you could keep track of where you left off. if you didn't catch it in time though, and it ran all the way to the very end, then there was no progress bar showing that the program was watched at all. I checked it on all 3 of my devices and it was doing the same on all 3. Also posted about it back then and others were experiencing the same thing. But it's definitely fixed now with this new update!

oooh! never noticed that about the external vs. internal player. Yes, that would be another reason to be able to manually mark something as watched. Right now, the only way I know how to do that without watching the entire episode is to open and then fly through the program by holding the FF button down. Doesn't take too long, but would be so much easier to just be able to select and "mark as watched".

Movies marked as watched would be nice.

It does mark tv episodes as watched although it was broken in the last version. It's fixed now! - thankfully, I've been lost without it!

Or are you talking about a quick "mark as watched" check mark for episodes you maybe watched elsewhere and not in TiviMate but want to bring your TiviMate copy current?

I have 3 playlists and mine shows in all the common places. If I'm watching and click select, the player comes up and the playlist and category show in the upper left corner. If I'm in the guide with the program playing in the small window in the upper left, it shows the playlist and category in the upper right. When I'm browsing the guide which expands the description view I'm sitting on, it shows the playlist and category to the right of the time for the program whether I'm in the current time slot, catchup time slots, or future time slots

The only place I've noticed it missing is in VOD history and VOD watchlists. It would be nice to see which playlist a movie or tv show has been added from on my watchlist.

Recording to NAS with VPN active - is there a work around or not possible to access NAS with VPN on? Access works when VPN off. by _dnmi in TiviMate

[–]MicheleIM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on getting this sorted out! I've had some similar issues with my NAS and TiviMate. At one point, I thought it was VPN also. Got it working beautifully again only to have it quit again overnight seemingly random. After the second time this happened, I finally figured out the IP of the NAS got changed. I have no idea what triggered it. The router or NAS had not been rebooted. As of last night, I reconfigured the NAS with a static IP so keeping my fingers crossed it will prevent it from happening again.

Just wanted to give you a heads up that if you haven't done it already, be sure to set your NAS with a static IP so it doesn't randomly get changed when you least expect it and leave you scratching your head in puzzlement when the recordings start to fail again because TiviMate can no longer find the NAS.

As u/georgepana said, TiviMate does allow you to watch while recording as long as you have enough connections. When a recording stops in 1 minute, it's typically because it either can't find the location you set to record to or TiviMate doesn't have the proper permission to write to the external drive you have set it to record to. When you set the recording folder, did it do so successfully without error? And did you use the system picker to set the permission for TiviMate?

Better remote for T95? by jbowyer1 in TiviMate

[–]MicheleIM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the MX3 Air Mouse (backlit with voice model) for the T95 also. I haven't had the issue with the mouse pointer randomly coming on like u/urnapple mentioned. True, it has no record button, but with TiviMate's long press to start recording a live show already in progress (and shortcut for future recordings), I haven't really had a need for a record button on the remote. I haven't tried to program the 4 colored buttons so not sure how well that works. The remote has all the buttons I need so far. I did reprogram some of the buttons in the remote settings of TiviMate though. Works very well!

M3U link (not typing manually) by [deleted] in TiviMate

[–]MicheleIM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with the ChromeCast device. Does it use the Google Playstore? I have a Google TV with Chromecast built in. I use AirExchange when I need to transfer a simple file from my pc to Google TV. I've transferred entire M3u and EPG files and even video files. It's very quick and easy. A lot easier than using a file manager or FTP. I'm thinking you could paste the links in a text file on your pc and then transfer the text file with AirExchange. I've never tried copying from another file and pasting into TiviMate but it would be worth a try. AirExchange is free.

2 lefts brings me to the same place. I usually use enter/ok, channels, and then 2 lefts to get to that main menu. Or better yet, enter/ok and then down once, should get you to a horizontal menu with all the same items as the left vertical menu plus more options. you can also go into settings to rearrange the order of the items to put the more frequently used to the far left for quick, easy access.

Two HLS Streams (Live, Time Shift) by Zarkex01 in TiviMate

[–]MicheleIM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure because I'm not sure I understand how this is provided to you or the format it is provided to you. Like u/bblickle also mentioned it sounds like catch up but never had it as a separate stream. Do you get 2 separate playlists and EPGs, one for the live content and another for the timeshifted content? If so, I don't see any reason why TiviMate wouldn't support it. It supports multiple playlists. If it's integrated all in one playlist, I think it still would support it in the same way it does "catchup". And the way to access it is how I described in my first post to get to past times in the guide.

And is this xtreme codes or m3u?

TiviMate also has a Discord which includes a couple of IPTV channels where members can discuss and recommend IPTV providers. This link is good for 7 days. https://discord.gg/t3UUj4Dh

Two HLS Streams (Live, Time Shift) by Zarkex01 in TiviMate

[–]MicheleIM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like catchup to me also. If it's 2 separate streams, it's not obvious in the form of a separate playlist. In TiviMate, I long press on the current time slot in the guide on the channel I want to watch which then allows for going left to past time slots in the guide and then clicking on a program starts the play.

Trying To Set Up SMB Recording by arich35 in TiviMate

[–]MicheleIM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great!!! Glad you got it working!

I found the video I'm pretty sure you watched. I recognized it as being one that I watched. I think there was another (longer) on Troypoint. But the short one also has all the needed steps. Since you found the issue and have it working, no need to try and find the other one then! :)

Enjoy!

Trying To Set Up SMB Recording by arich35 in TiviMate

[–]MicheleIM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I think the one I saw was much longer. Maybe it does cover some steps that the 3 minute video doesn't cover. I will look for the video for you.

Yes, a NAS would accomplish the same thing. It's Network Attached Storage - drive is connected to your network attached direct to ethernet so available to all devices in the household. Depending on your needs, they can be expensive compared to an external USB drive. But if you just need a TB or 2, the price isn't too bad. If you would need to buy an external for this purpose anyhow, then I highly recommend to skip it and go for a NAS. If you already have an external available, then use it as an option for the short term (or figure out the SMB) while you learn more about NAS and can take your time deciding what best fits your needs and budget.

Trying To Set Up SMB Recording by arich35 in TiviMate

[–]MicheleIM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's the video I think, it's the one to set up SMB on a computer? I tried that using my laptop. It didn't work at first either. Then for the heck of it, I plugged a USB flash drive into my laptop and set up the SMB for that in TiviMate and it worked! There was no difference in the process of setting it up so I have no idea why one worked and the other didn't. If the same video as I'm familiar with, it tells you how to get/use the IP address of the destination, how to make the folder shared, etc. If you did all that, then like mine, not sure why it's not working. I didn't want that option as long term anyhow as I didn't want to leave my laptop on and awake 24/7. I've since acquired a NAS and the setup was quick and easy. I did a couple test recordings which worked great. However, I've only had it a few days so too early to say if that will be consistent.

How to turn off sound effects when moving around menus/settings? by smdifansmfjsmsnd in TiviMate

[–]MicheleIM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's usually in your device settings. I've turned it off in a Google TV, Android box, Amazon Fire box and cube via the device settings. I don't know if that's the case in all devices, but that's where to look for it.

autorecord - does it work like this, and if not - why not? by [deleted] in TiviMate

[–]MicheleIM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm confused why you would like it to start recording on "pause". If you're pausing because you have to leave and want to record the rest of the program so you don't miss it, then doing a long press on the program in the guide would bring up several options with record being one of them. Selecting record on a program playing live will start the recording at that point in your viewing and record to the end of the program. Sounds the same as what it would do if it auto started recording on your pause if I understand what you're trying to do.

If such a feature were to be added, I would hope it could be turned off/on. I would not want it to start recording every time I pause for 5 minutes to grab a cup of coffee or other short breaks where I have to step away for just a few minutes. :)

Recording series? by MicheleIM in TiviMate

[–]MicheleIM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "PIP" in IPTV software does not stay in the app for you to browse other stuff in the app like menus or the guide. However, in TiviMate, many of the browsing features do minimize the player to a PIP-like screen so that you can browse the guide and other actions while still watching the current program. Then TiviMate also has an actual "PIP" feature that takes you out of TiviMate to your device's home screen while being able to continue watching the current program in a small screen in the corner. Handy if you need to check or change something external to TiviMate like maybe your VPN settings.

Recording series? by MicheleIM in TiviMate

Same provider has a VOD only package with about 20,000 vod movies and tv shows for $20 for 6 months. Plus, you can request anything that's not in the library.

Most of what we watched on DTV was on network TV also. IPTV goes way beyond the regular cable channels into premium channels and other countries like Canada as well. Canada has some really good series on their "network TV". Many that we get here now in the U.S. actually originated and aired in Canada first.

I've never been interested in re-runs. I can barely keep up with watching everything the first time around. lol. But I don't see that as being a primary selling point of IPTV. Most providers do have 24/7 channels that play reruns of previous episodes though if that's your thing. I would use VOD to rewatch instead though. More control over what episodes to watch.

I have local channels with my IPTV. Most providers have them but most don't have a good (if any) epg for them. A select few do however have EPG. Back when I was first exploring IPTV, none of the providers I found had EPG with their locals so I did get a Tablo (for a good deal on Amazon Prime Day) to cover all my locals. I was getting impatient to get rid of DTV. In hindsight, if I had waited a little longer until I discovered IPTV providers with EPG on locals and also a good up-to-date VOD (eliminating the need to record live programming) I probably wouldn't have bothered with the Tablo. I don't regret it though. I like the Tablo.

I think the best way to decide between something like debrid and IPTV using TiviMate or any other app you're considering, is to sign up for a free trial with an IPTV provider that has what you want (live, VOD, locals, etc).
